Giti trailer tyre goes Heavy Duty
Giti Tire has launched the Giti GTR956 HD Combi Road, a trailer tyre for severe Heavy Duty (HD) regional applications. Initially available in 385/65R22.5 – with 265/70R19.5 planned for quarter four – the tyre is designed for rugged working sites, heavy loads, mountainous and winding roads, rough terrains and has limited off-road capacity.

The new MTS 75,000 square foot Connect-70 Bellshill Industrial Estate development features EV charging points,15 per cent roof lights, roof solar panels and Air Source Heat Pumps, moves which are designed to “reduce long-term energy costs and support the company’s sustainability goals”.

However the character of each segment is very different, as we can see from the latest data on this segment from market analysis firm GfK. The most recent generations of all season tyres from premium manufacturers, broadly dated from the introduction of the first Michelin CrossContact, and latterly from brands at lower price points, have helped to establish these tyres with wider temperature operating windows as a strong growth segment.

The UK’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) market dropped -8.5 per cent in July with 24,689 vans, 4x4s, pickups and taxis joining the road, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The performance is in comparison with a strong July in 2023 – the best in three years – however, which came amid a record-equalling 17 consecutive months of market growth. With that exceptional run of demand ending only in May this year, the overall market remains robust with registrations up 2.7 per cent year to date to become the best first seven months since 2019.
