PJ Thory installs TyreWatch TPMS across mixed service truck fleet
PJ Thory Ltd has installed a TyreWatch system to monitor and control tyre maintenance and safety across its extensive 8-wheeler HGV fleet. The firm’s diverse operation spans mixed haulage, aggregate supplies, waste management and demolition. Working with TyreWatch technicians and Prometeon Tyre Group, the agro and off-road tyre specialist, PJ Thory, undertook an analysis and short trial to assess their requirements and bed-in the new tyre pressure management system (TPMS), which is now fitted to 11 Scania vehicles with a number of new DAF 8 wheelers to follow.

Giti Tire will travel to Thruxton this weekend as the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship, of which the manufacturer is the sponsor, prepares for its second round. Last time out at Brands Hatch (5-6 June), Giti’s drivers secured the team’s first victory and four further podium finishes over five races. Martin Gibson, Giti Tire’s manager - EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, and Stuart Oliver of Team Oliver Racing, are competing in Giti Tire Motorsport designed trucks. Gibson won the fourth race at Brands, while Oliver finished in second place, repeating his achievement in race one.

Goodyear has tweeted several spectacular views photographed by the pilot, so it is well worth checking @goodyear_uk for more during the course of today. Nissan is set to invest £1 billion Nissan in building what it calls EV36Zero, “a world-first EV manufacturing ecosystem”, according to the company. Located alongside the company’s Sunderland factory, the project sees Nissan partner with Envision AESC, a battery maker, and Sunderland City Council. Comprised of three interconnected initiatives, Nissan EV36Zero brings together electric vehicles, renewable energy and a 9GW of battery production. With plans for a new UK-made Nissan-branded crossover car model incorporated, the factory investment is also welcome news for the original equipment tyre business, which has been hampered by reduced production and factory closures across the country in recent years.

First Stop has invested £20,000 overhauling the visuals of one of its latest independent partners. Eastern Tyres, based in Fronks Road, Harwich has teamed up with First Stop to undergo an extensive facelift. The centre’s owners, Paul Eagle and Troy Wrenn, whose business only became a First Stop member a matter of weeks ago, hope to clip the wings of competitor garages in future.
