Ben’s comeback ball a ‘great success’
Ben Ball made a welcome return to London’s iconic Roundhouse for a spectacular comeback celebration on 8th December – bringing 600 automotive industry people together for the first time since the pandemic began and raising £96,500 in the process. According the event’s organisers, the decision was made “in response to the ongoing Covid-19 variants and the Government’s recent directives related to the Omicron variant”. No new date for the 31st edition of the Autosport International Show has yet been confirmed.

Kwik-Fit and Stapleton’s owner ETEL buys leading tyre recycling firm Murfitts
European Tyre Enterprise Ltd (ETEL), which owns leading tyre retail and wholesale operations Kwik-Fit and Stapleton’s, has agreed the acquisition of Murfitts Industries, the country’s leading tyre recycling company. ETEL is buying 100 per cent of Murfitts Group Ltd, the parent company of Murfitts Industries. Murfitts operates a national network recycling the equivalent of around 20 million car tyres per year. Murfitts, which processes and recycles tyres into granulate, has been a long-term provider of post-consumer tyre collection and recycling services to ETEL.

UK firm Low Sulphur Fuels Ltd. (LSF) is the winner of the second Continental Challenge for sustainable material solutions. The Amersham-based enterprise prevailed over more than 50 participants from across the world with its conversion technology that can produce low sulphur distillate from end-of-life hydrocarbon materials such as oils and tyres.

Reduction in plug-in grant to adversely affect EV uptake – NFDA
The Government has announced a number of changes to the Plug-in Car Grant (PICG), the Plug-in Van Grant (PIVG) and the Plug in Motorcycle Grant (PIMG) rates and eligibility criteria. The new terms apply from 07:00 on Wednesday 15 December 2021. The Government has temporarily suspended the grant portal as we transition to the new rates.

ATS Euromaster celebrates CCS framework fleet tyre and servicing win
Following our in-depth coverage at the start of November, ATS Euromaster has confirmed that it has once again secured a position on the latest Crown Commercial Service (CCS) four-year framework. ATS Euromaster and parent company Michelin have a long history with CCS contracts. However, the latest deal is the first time that ATS Euromaster has been able to offer servicing, maintenance and repair elements such as brake and suspension work, to those on the framework. According to the company, the ATS support also includes the company’s mobile networks to ensure vehicle uptime is fully optimised.
