New owner for insolvent Reifen Ihle’s retreading operation
The retreading business belonging to insolvent German tyre company the Reifen Ihle Group now has a new owner. The sales contract was signed late last Friday, and follows the divestment of the firm’s 12 Point S tyre retail centres to regional retailer Reifen Müller at the end of October. R-I-G Technische Produkte GmbH has been acquired by Frankfurt am Main-based holding company Prolimity Capital Partners and will now be operated under a new entity, Rigdon GmbH.

Italian retreading products manufacturer M.I.G. Srl is one of the latest companies to become a member of the Retread Tire Association. The company is one of five named in the RTA’s latest membership update; the others are US-based firms Carbon Activated Corp, Great Lakes Tire LLC and Smith Bros. Tire Service, along with Canada’s Jay Tomlinson Tires. Several other companies have also recently joined, however their identities have not been disclosed.

Vacu-Lug using aircraft tyre technology in new tyre range
Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres has launched the first in its new flagship range of commercial vehicle drive axle tyres, inspired by the latest production techniques and technologies used in aircraft and high-performance tyres. According to the company, the Vacu-Lug Logistik range is designed to offer operators the “very, very lowest costs per kilometre”. Grantham-based commercial tyre remoulding specialist Vacu-Lug has already launched its Logistik 295/80R22.5 drive tyre, in its new Logistik drive pattern. The 315/70R22.5 tyre is poised to launch early in the New Year.

Marangoni, Tatneft to establish Russia retreading JV
Marangoni and Tatneft Group have agreed to form a retreading joint venture in Russia. Based in Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan, the joint venture to retread all steel truck tyres will operate as KaMaRetread LLC and is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2015. Trading house Kama, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tatneft, will own 65 per cent, while Marangoni SpA will own the remaining 35 per cent. Tatneft is the owner of Nizhnekamskshina, which recently reached the milestone of two million all-steel radial truck tyres produced by its Nizhnekamsk factory.

North Yorkshire bulk tipper operator M Kettlewell (Melmerby) has signed a fixed price tyre supply and maintenance contract with Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres. Ripon-based M Kettlewell currently runs 33 units and 36 trailers, transporting raw materials, such as wheat and barley, for animal feed processors nationally.

Marangoni strengthens its service and sales team in turkey
Marangoni Retreading Systems appointed Nejat Dagdemir as general manager of its Marangoni Kaucuk Ticaret, Turkish sales subsidiary, which is located in Izmir. With 400,000 retreads a year and around 80 retreaders, Turkey is the sixth biggest European market in terms of the total number of retreads, and second only to Germany regarding cold retreading technology. This means that, with the Marangoni Ringtread and Unitread lines, Marangoni Kaucuk Ticaret has a 20 per cent share of the domestic market - that’s according to company representatives who characterize this as a good level, although less than in other European countries.

According to the retreading materials supplier the goal was to share the knowledge the firm has acquired over more than 40 years of experience. Vipal, which is the Latin American leader, reports that it developing several such initiatives. These activities, like those fostered by the UniVipal corporate university, are intended to benefit customers around the world. In September, Vipal’s partners from Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia attended a four-day training session at the company’s head office in Nova Prata, Rio Grande do Sul.

It was reinforced with the objective of consolidating and strengthening Marangoni Group’s presence in Germany, one of the most important markets in Europe.
