Continental launches ContiRoadAttack 4 ‘hyper-touring’ tyre
It’s now 16 years since Continental introduced its first-generation ContiRoadAttack, and during this time we’ve made our acquaintance with a whole range of jauntily-named innovations. The launch of the original tyre back in 2005 saw the arrival of Zero Degree technology, while Continental gave us two – TractionSkin and MultiGrip – when it released a second generation five years later. Continental brought out the ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO in 2013 and in doing so introduced us to RainGrip technology. We got to know EasyHandling technology four years ago when the next generation tyre arrived. Continental is now gearing up to bring us its latest incarnation, the ContiRoadAttack 4. Get ready for GripLimitFeedback technology, too.

Repurposing boosting number of published tyre tests
If you have the impression that we’re seeing more tyre tests these days and they’re appearing more frequently, you’re not mistaken. There are several reasons for this. One is the increasing popularity of all-season tyres. Secondly, tyre manufacturers are increasingly commissioning comparative tests of their own products alongside the competition. The third reason is that tests are often tweaked and presented to the public more than once. This was the case with the most recent winter test from German publication auto motor und sport (ams); it wasn’t long before two suspiciously similar – but not identical – doppelgangers appeared.

E-CUBE’s 4th generation mobile service unit helps TMG extend global reach
The E-CUBE mobile tyre service unit’s fourth generation has been introduced into global markets, as its manufacturer looks to expand its distribution network further. The pandemic has resulted in a considerable uptick in mobile auto servicing, as motorists adapted to new patterns of work and commuting. With many auto servicing companies upgrading or expanding their service van fleets, there is an opportunity for suppliers of small-footprint, transportable equipment suitable for this purpose. The E-CUBE 48-volt lightweight mobile tyre fitting and servicing unit, manufactured and distributed globally by Netherlands based Technomarketing Group (TMG) is one option ready to capitalise on the rise in popularity of mobile servicing.

India first: Vredestein pauses motorcycle tyre sales in Europe
Early in 2019, Apollo Tyres announced it would introduce motorcycle tyres into Europe under the Vredestein brand name, promising performance that competed with its rival’s first line products at prices competing with their second or even third line ranges. The first three models – the Vredestein Centauro ST radial for sport touring bikes, Centauro Road sports radial, and Staccata scooter range – debuted at the EICMA show in Italy later that year.

Pro-Align: maximise wheel alignment opportunity with standard free checks
Wheel alignment checks offer garages the opportunity to demonstrate professional customer service while boosting profitability considerably, with a sizable proportion of the car parc suffering from misalignment, according to a leading garage equipment company. Pro-Align, the distributor of Hunter garage equipment products, says that 70 per cent of cars on the road today are misaligned. This, it continues, means there is a prime opportunity for workshops to help identify these issues through free alignment checks for every customer, regardless of what they had originally booked in for. After returning the initial outlay on machinery, Pro-Align says realignment jobs can then typically return profit margins of 88 per cent.
