VDB highlights wide brand portfolio
With its sizeable exhibition presence at The Tire Cologne, Netherlands-based wholesaler Van den Ban not only had space to display products from its broad selection of private and exclusive brands, it was also well equipped to reforge face-to-face bonds with its many international contacts following the recent two-year pause. Speaking with Tyrepress.com on the trade fair’s final day, commercial director Cyril Versteeg stressed the importance of events such as this as a meeting point for existing and potential customers.

New for 2022, the Mercedes-Benz EQB is a fully electric compact SUV that weighs in at 2.1 tonnes and delivers up to 292hp through its 66.5 kWh motor, power that will get it from 0 to 62mph in as little as 6 seconds. Versions of the EQB delivered with 19-inch rims as standard will roll from the factory on Continental tyres. Continental is supplying its EcoContact 6 to Mercedes-Benz in size 235/50 R19 103T XL.

By the end of 2022, drivers in the UK will be able to equip their vehicles with Continental summer or all-season tyres made using polyester from recycled PET bottles. Continental calls this sustainable material ContiRe.Tex and began incorporating it into some tyre lines in April. The initial range coming to the UK consists of 15 dimensions in total, with five sizes of PremiumContact 6, EcoContact 6 and AllSeasonContact available.

The tyre maker is now offering Pirelli Elect products as replacement fitments and states that these are “now widely available” for aftermarket customers. Pirelli has integrated Elect into all P Zero, Cinturato and Scorpion lines, thereby offering the technology for summer, winter and all-season ranges.
