TVS Eurogrip launches steel belted agro-industrial radial tyres
At the end of 2023, we reported how TVS Eurogrip was planning to extend its position as a well-known name in the two-wheel sector in Europe by introducing a range of off-highway tyres to build on its reputation in the implement, forklift and industrial tyre segments. Back then, the emphasis was on the forthcoming VF range, but during the course 2024, the company has also introduced a range of steel belted agro-industrial radial tyres designed for use in “telescopic handlers, compact wheel loaders, and backhoe loaders used in both agricultural and industrial applications”.

Together with a “major European commercial truck manufacturer,” low-voltage battery solutions firm Clarios is working to develop 24-volt lithium-ion batteries for heavy-duty applications. The two parties have entered into an agreement to this effect, and Clarios intends to market the resulting product under the Varta Automotive brand name.

At present, trade associations in the tyre recycling sector generally recommend that no more than around five per cent ground rubber from end-of-life tyres goes into the production of new tyres. But Evonik is confident of quadrupling this ratio. A team of researchers have been working to counter the restrictions imposed by the chemical structure of recycled rubber, and the company reports having achieved a “key step forward with a process that could make it possible to use up to four times as much recycled rubber in new tyres as in the past.”
