Sailun plans to launch OTR tyre project
On 2 March 2023 the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province stated that it agreed to Zhucheng Yong’an Rubber Technology (Yong’an Rubber) to undergo a “capacity replacement” at its tyre production facility. The company in Zhucheng, Weifang, plans to dismantle the production capacity of 300,000 all-steel radial tyres and 5.46 million semi-steel radial tyres and launch a project with an annual output of 70,100 tons of OTR tyres. The Chinese government calls this behaviour “capacity replacement”, meaning that a company must withdraw its equivalent production capacity if it wants to build a new project. Tyrepress sister website, Tyrepress China notes that Yongan Rubber had undergone bankruptcy and reorganisation in 2020-21, having been acquired by Sailun.

Auto Bild tyre test: Double victory for Goodyear
Auto Bild has published the second-round results of its size 225/45 R18 summer 2023 tyre test, and thanks to cost factors contributing 20% to the final score, participating tyres gained an opportunity to demonstrate their price-performance ratio. Enter the Future: BKT to become an OTR one-stop shop
A fortnight ago, BKT announced its aim of increasing production by around 67% and achieving an annual turnover of US$2 billion in 3 years. Triangle Tyre’s new ultra-high performance tyre, the EffeXSport TH202 has achieved a milestone in the Chinese manufacturer’s development of greatly improved products targeting growth in the UK and wider European markets. The tyre has achieved the top A-grade rating for wet grip on the European tyre label on more than half of its size range. Triangle unveiled the new flagship product at The Tire Cologne 2022 in preparation for its European market introduction in 2023. It said that its latest advanced technologies had allowed Triangle to bridge the trade-off between performance and comfort, developing a tyre with “excellent results” in dry and wet braking, driving precision, stability at high speed, and wear resistance.

Auto Bild: Performance still has its price in sporty tyre sizes

Continental confirms global Smart #1 tyre supply

Trico wipers OE on a range of new BMWs
Original equipment wiper blade manufacturer, Trico, has announced that its rear arm and wiper blade have been chosen for the new BMW X1, 2 Series Active Tourer and iX models. The blade and arm use a completely new design that has been developed by Trico engineers specifically for these vehicles. The wiper uses a beam blade for maximum windscreen contact and the arm design is lower and flatter than previous versions, with a cleaner integration between arm and blade, resulting in increased visibility through the rear windscreen.

Tevva hydrogen-electric truck clocks up 350 miles in wintry range test
While Tevva’s focus remains trained on building and delivering its battery-electric 7.5t vehicle, testing and development of its hydrogen-electric counterpart continues apace. Four Tevva engineers: Charlie Cordell, Byron Dolman, Ryan Clark and Toby Hurst were doing exactly that recently, with a ‘range test’ of Tevva’s dual-energy prototype truck. The exercise saw the foursome accumulate more than 1,000km (approximately 620 miles) in the 7.5t hydrogen-electric vehicle, driving between Tevva’s London HQ and the Scottish border at Berwick-on-Tweed - England’s most northernmost town.
