Six well-known tyre manufacturers have teamed up to provide their customers with easier access to agricultural tyre pressure indications. Information from Apollo Tyres, Bridgestone, Continental, Michelin, Nokian Tyres and Trelleborg Wheel Systems is now available in a single app, Agro Tyre Pressure. Swiss firm Anura Associates developed the app for the tyre makers.

CNH Industrial has approved Ceat Specialty to supply agricultural radials for farming equipment manufactured in Brazil and Argentina, and this new relationship commences with shipments of Ceat Farmax tyres for fitment on Case IH and New Holland tractors. Ceat Specialty shares that the agreement followed the OEM engaging in “several rounds of assessment and audits” relating to Ceat’s radial tyre plant in Mumbai, India.

Campervans based upon vehicles such as the VW Transporter are a popular choice for those wishing to see more of the countryside, and Auto Bild gave them some deserved attention in a recent tyre test. The publication looked at 12 all-season tyres in size 235/55 R17. It fitted these to a VW T6 and then found out how the tyres performed in dry, wet and snowy conditions. Three products gained the top ‘exemplary’ rating and Auto Bild opined that they, along with four ‘good’ rated tyres, are well-suited to the task at hand.

Continental has consistently argued that its tyres are of sufficient quality to handle the extra weight and torque demands of electric vehicles. Now, however, the German tyremaker has gone a step further and announced that it is so confident that “all current tyres from Continental already meet the high requirements of electric cars” that in future the company’s tyres will bear a new EV-compatible logo, highlighting Continental’s comprehensive EV product strategy.

Well-known contract tyre manufacturer – SD-International is promoting the “SUV style and safety” of its Zeta-branded Impero SUV and Toledo 4x4 tyre ranges. According to the company, which is aiming to build up its established position in the UK and European tyre markets, Zeta SUV and 4x4 products “provide a series of impressive features and benefits including…modern and stylish” tread patterns. The details remain to be seen, but moving forward there is even talk of a “new EV serial” becoming available “by spring 2023”.

Across the Atlantic, Yokohama Tire Corporation, the North American manufacturing and marketing arm of Tokyo, Japan-based The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has launched the Geolandar A/T XD. The Geolandar A/T XD is engineered for “full-size pickup trucks and commercial vans”. It is severe snow service-rated and moulded for optional studs purportedly offering “outstanding on- and off-road traction all year round”. The A/T XD is initially available in 21 sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches, with more sizes coming later in the year.

The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has started selling HLC (high load capacity) tyres. According to the company, HLC tyres are designed “to meet the needs of heavy-duty passenger cars such as EVs and hybrid cars with high capacity batteries, as well as large SUVs.” Having been developed as the original equipment (OE), Yokohama Rubber reports that the company will also develop products for the replacement market in line with market needs.
