Goodyear launches DrivePoint industrial tyre monitoring
Goodyear is launching DrivePoint Heavy Duty tyre monitoring solution to help container handling maintenance managers improve preventive tyre maintenance and reduce vehicle downtime. According to the company, Goodyear DrivePoint Heavy Duty is based around durable hardware and user-friendly mobile and web applications. It uses technology proven in the truck industry but upscaled and adapted for use on larger container handling machines such as reach stackers, straddle carriers and automated guided vehicles (AGV).

Aeolus now supplying 63-inch tyres to OTR market
Aeoluss first batch of 63-inch OTR tyres was shipped from the company’s Jiaozuo manufacturing base on 11 March. The specification model of this batch of tyres is 59/80R63. Aeolus said that these giant tyres were sent to key overseas markets. The manufacturer said that a giant tyre weighs nearly 6 tons with a diameter for more than 4 metres and is mainly used for mining dump trucks, around 400 tons.

Falken ‘increases foothold’ in UK truck tyre market as distributor reports increase in sales
UK truck tyre sales for Falken Tyres have increased significantly during the past 12 months, according to the Sumitomo Rubber Industries brand and its distributor Micheldever Tyre Services. In 2022, Falken sold more than 8,000 more tyres in the UK market than it did during 2021. During 2022, Falken’s RI 151, BI 856 and GI 368 proved to be the bestsellers among its portfolio of customers, managed by MTS retail chain Protyre. The 2022 increase has also supported Micheldever and Protyre’s UK truck tyre sales, with “significant” year-on-year growth since 2020 and an overall increase of 350 per cent since 2018.

Galaxy LDSR 500, an all-steel radial L5 tyre for wheel loaders and dozers, is now available in 23.5R25. Introducing this addition to the range, Yokohama Off-Highway Tires says the tubeless tyre is developed for off-road construction and surface mining operations and comes with a non-directional pattern and an extra deep tread. In conjunction with a cut-resistant compound and sidewall protector, the Galaxy LDSR 500 “provides superior strength and endurance plus excellent stability during its long, reliable and productive service life.”

Focus on key designs – Goodyear’s plans for Avon two-wheeler portfolio
Avon Tyres entered the Goodyear fold in 2021 and was integrated into the wider group of brands over the following year. Its new owner considers Avon “one of the motorcycle industry’s longest-established tyre brands” and now plans a “fresh focus” for the British marque with a “reinvigorated approach.” At the same time, Goodyear says the Avon brand will remain a key part of its portfolio in the passenger vehicle segment.
