Bridgestone supports electric vehicle Rally with EV Ready tyres, Webfleet
Bridgestone will sponsor the EV Rally 2023 for the first time, using its “EV Ready” tyre technologies on the 1,200 mile, five-day event. The rally spans the UK and Ireland between 3 and 7 July, commencing in Cardiff. The new Bridgestone Turanza 6 and Duravis Van tyres, designated ‘EV Ready’ by the manufacturer, will be in the spotlight as the rally demonstrates the countries’ charging infrastructure.

There are many tyre technologies on the market to resist damage and punctures, such as reinforced sidewalls and self-healing inner linings for the rubber, but tyre manufacturers have continued to develop the airless tyre as an optimal way of ensuring tyre damage does not dent operators’ businesses. The Michelin Uptis is the first tyre of its kind to hit the road, with nearly 50 DHL Express vans in Singapore fitting the product in 2023. Now French postal service La Poste will help the tyre take its European bow in real-world conditions, with 40 vans due to fit the Uptis in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France by the end of 2024.

Nearly half of UK motorists will make the switch to an electric vehicle in the next five years despite heightened concerns about charging point infrastructure and range anxiety, a survey commissioned by tyre manufacturer Bridgestone suggests. The survey of 2,000 UK car owners was conducted online by Research Without Barriers (RWB) between 23 February 2023 and 28 February 2023. 40 per cent said they would buy an EV by 2028, up 11 per cent from a similar result in a 2022 survey conducted by YouGov for Bridgestone (29 per cent),. 67 per cent raised fears about the availability of charging stations, a rise of 1 per cent versus 2022, while half of all respondents continue to have range anxiety, an increase of 21 per cent over the 2022 survey.
