Toyo Tires to supply Caterham Roadsport, Seven 270R and Seven 310R Championships
The three main Caterham championships in the UK will all compete on Toyo tyres in 2024. The 7 Race Series said the move would make it easier for drivers to enter events in multiple championships. Drivers from the Caterham Graduates Racing Club were welcomed to the events in 2023 following the Club’s move to Toyo Tires at the start of the season. Now, Caterham Roadsport, Seven 270R and Seven 310R Championships will all roll on the Toyo R888R, helping to extend more racing opportunities to the Caterham racing community.

Cooper supplying off-road tyres to emergency responders
Cooper Tires has entered into partnerships in the United Kingdom with Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team in Yorkshire. Each provides first-response assistance, and Cooper says it is supplying tyres to these organisations to fit vehicles such as the Volvo XC90, BMW X5 or Land Rover Discovery 5 to provide the grip, versatility and durability needed.

Johnsons Aggregate and Recycling is rolling out the latest generation Wheely-Safe technology across its fleet of eight-wheel tippers, improving the efficiency and health & safety of its operation. The Ilkeston-based firm is in the process of installing the in-motion wheel loss detection system, which combines brake and hub temperature monitoring with an intelligent tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on 25 of its Scania trucks.

Michelin wins Dyce Carriers fleet deal after trial shows X Multi tyre mileage, performance upgrade
Aberdeen-based haulier Dyce Carriers is to move its 100-strong fleet of HGVs and trailers to Michelins X Multi range of tyres. The tyres will be fitted by independent tyre dealer Redpath Tyres over the next year’s transition period. The company has conducted a two-year trial on Michelin’s truck tyre range. The trial showed mileage and performance improvements compared with its existing tyre policy, Dyce stated.

Ronal Group partners Lamborghini to develop SC63 racing wheel
The Ronal Group is partnering with Lamborghini to develop the wheel for its SC63 Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) race car. The car will participate in the WEC FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA (International Motor Sport Association) series from 2024. The Swiss wheel maker has vast experience in supplying motorsport-grade wheels, such as the 89 FIA World Champion titles won on its products in Formula 1. It also supplies the World Rally Championship, World Rallycross Championship, Super Touring and GT Racing.

Advan V61 OE on Mazda CX-90
Yokohama Rubber has extended its original equipment supply to the Mazda CX-90, the larger sibling of the CX-80 sold in the UK and Europe. Not only is it supplying Yokohama Geolandar X-CV tyres for Mazda CX-90 models sold in the USA, Mazda has also approved the Yokohama Advan V61 as an original equipment fitment for the CX-90 in “Australia and other markets.”

Delphi offers first-to-market EV brake pads for Ford Mustang Mach-E
Braking brand Delphi now offers rear brake pads for the Ford Mustang Mach-E 07/2020> in a first-to-market release. The Ford Mustang Mach-E was developed from the ground up as an all-electric vehicle and boasts a driving range of around 370 miles under WLTP regulations. “We’re really excited to announce the launch of our new EV brake pads,” said Carl Lester, Global Product Line Manager at Delphi. “Delphi EV brake pads have been engineered to provide instant friction and exceptional braking performance straight from the box.”

Giti launches Mercury total fleet management solution
Giti Tire has launched its Mercury fleet management programme. The programme offers online real-time reporting across all core operational areas. Giti plans to offer Mercury as a value-added service to all truck and bus customers contracted to the brand. Giti is also introducing its Retorque App, designed to give fleet managers visibility that their retorque policy is being followed in real time. The software was soft-launched with several UK-based key fleet customers last September, the company adds. The launch is designed to allow Giti, a mid-market player, to offer services that are now common amongst premium fleet tyre suppliers and partners.

Triangle EffeXSport range developments designed to balance compound and construction
Details of the first wave of the EffeXSport product line-up were released at the end of the first quarter and explain that the initial range is made up of 54 sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches. Those products were already available back in March. Moving forward, a further 50 sizes will be added by the end of the year. What we now know is that the overall range will be more than half A-rated on the European tyre label. Michelin awarded for 45% sustainable tyre
On 13 July, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the Center of Automotive Management (CAM) bestowed the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award 2023 in the ‘Chassis, Car Body & Exterior’ category upon Michelin for its road-approved car tyres containing 45 per cent sustainable materials. A jury composed of seasoned figures from the industry, the world of science and consulting, as well as specialist media selected Michelin for the award.
