Farming without pressure – Galileo’s growing CupWheel range
It’s about a decade since we first saw CupWheel airless tyre technology. We knew it then as Mitas PneuTrac, unaware at the time of Israeli firm Galileo and its novel product. Galileo was founded in 2011 by Alon Hayka and CupWheel inventor Avishay Novoplanski. Delphi adds 300 items to braking range
Delphi has added more than 300 new braking parts in 2023, including 20 first-to-market additions for high-performance vehicles such as the BMW M-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Repairify: technology, AI can help bridge ADAS servicing skills gap
Garage and diagnostics equipment supplier Repairify has addressed the current chasm between the approximately 3,500 ADAS-qualified technicians in the UK and the 21,500 required to meet market demand for these services. The company says it can help businesses meet the dramatic increase in demand, set to continue as growth in ADAS-equipped vehicles rises, via the support of its own team of IMI-qualified technicians and the development of technology to support maintenance work on these cars. Phil Peace, managing director (SVP) international at Repairify Inc, told Tyres & Accessories that AI and machine learning has enabled the company to enhance its data to support its solutions that puts critical repair information into garage workflow.

Mak increases its workshop focus with Mate TPMS and diagnostic range
In mid-November, Mak announced the introduction of the new Mate Multisens, Mate MaxiTPMS TS900 and MX pressure sensors and devices. Mak reports that the Mate TPMS and diagnostic brand that it exclusively distributes in Italy is “increasingly focused on the offer of products designed for vehicle workshops”.

UK-Canadian team wins Synthos Rubber Circularity Award
WMG at the University of Warwick in Coventry and Canada’s University of Victoria are the joint recipients of the inaugural Synthos Rubber Circularity Award, an international competition launched earlier this year to encourage cutting-edge ideas and solutions that significantly improve the environmental performance of synthetic rubber-based tyre compounds. Announcing the winners, Synthos states that the researchers impressed with their “breakthrough technology research concept” but did not elaborate on their work.

Alliance Agri Star range II now available in 65 series

Yokohama Off Highway Tires (YOHT) introduced the new additions to the range at Agritechnica 2023 and will offer 21 sizes/25 SKUs in dimensions that “completely cover the range of front and rear combinations” and joins the existing line-up of 70, 85, 90 and 95 series fitments.

‘Service campaign’ for Goodyear-shod VW ID.3
If a VW dealership informs an ID.3 owner during the course of a standard service appointment that the car’s tyres need to be replaced, it may not simply be a case of wear and tear. We’ve heard of one owner who was informed during a dealer workshop visit that the tyres on his VW ID.3 would need to be replaced if they were specific Goodyear original equipment tyres. He was told that there may be an issue with the tread, and the dealer replaced the Goodyear OE tyres with a new set of Continental tyres free of charge.

Hankook has achieved several top results in the latest round of independent tyre tests of winter and all-season tyres. Hankook’s Winter i*cept and Kinergy 4S tyre lines gained several podium finishes in tests by such leading independent testers as ADAC, Auto Bild and Auto Express, scoring particularly highly in the dry and wet as well as in snow.

Hiboo integrates Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty data in first for manufacturer’s OTR fleet data business
Goodyear has integrated its data into a third-party system in its tyre management solutions for the Off-The-Road (OTR) industry with the Hiboo platform. By adding data yielded from Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty, users of the platform can access unified tyre health and vehicle performance analytics. Goodyear says the integration helps drive OTR fleet’s operational efficiency. Unexpected machine stoppages and inappropriate tyre pressure can easily lead to breakdowns, which incur heavy costs in any segment – even more so in OTR applications, where access to maintenance and replacement products can be more challenging than in on-road commercial applications. The manufacturer says that the key to supporting these demands lies in harnessing the power of data integration proactively to enable more preventative maintenance.
