Goodyear has launched a fleet-flavoured blog, and with it aims to provide transport fleet managers with “valuable insights and expert guidance” that will help them to “drive results in terms of efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability.” This initiative is part of Goodyear’s Total Mobility commitment to support the transport industry.

Continental has launched two new channels for its transport logistics customers. It is combining its services for transport logistics under the VDO brand with myVDO, a source of information, services and assistance with a focus on compliance. The technology firm has recruited active trucker Olli Gleinert as a brand ambassador. Gleinert will explain the new smart tachograph (2nd version), the VDO DTCO 4.1 to fellow drivers and discuss the challenges of the EU Mobility Package I.

Bridgestone has collaborated with Maserati in exclusive Driving Experiences, starting in September 2023, Tyrepress Italian sister website PneusNews reports. The collaboration, which began in September, has allowed more than 30 Bridgestone customers and partners to sample Bridgestone’s tailor-made Potenza Sport tyres on Maserati models like the MC20 and Grecale Trofeo, which fit the tyre as original equipment.

As a result of the collaboration, Infineon will provide new generation TPMS sensors with tyre vibration signal detection, leveraging POLYN’s NFE for vibration data pre-processing at the sensor. The collaboration specifically targets the aftermarket and fleet segments, new data-as-a-service business models, and anticipates autonomous cars.

Nokian Tyres has extended the availability of its Intuitu smart tyres to the Spanish market, following their launch in Finland and France. The product is designed to bring digital transformation to farming, agricultural and municipal contracting tyres, making a fleet’s vital tyre data available on a smartphone. The plug-and-play product was released in 2020; Intuitu tyres have sensors mounted on the inner lining, which send pressure and temperature readings directly to the driver’s smartphone via a downloadable app.

Falken Tire Europe has announced its intention to adjust Falken and Sumitomo brand tyre prices effective at the beginning of 2024. The “adjustments” will affect Falken summer and all-season tyres for cars, SUVs, vans, light trucks, and trucks and trailers, while Sumitomo-brand summer car and van tyres will also be adjusted. Winter tyre prices will not be adjusted. The manufacturer has not yet released detailed information of the proportion or direction of the adjustments. Additionally, Falken’s UK representatives and exclusive distributor, the Sumitomo-owned Micheldever Tyre Services, told Tyres & Accessories that it was yet to confirm any new pricing details affecting the UK market.

Steel wire firm Bekaert shares that it has obtained the first third-party certificates for its tyre reinforcement with high recycled steel content and has delivered the initial batches of this steel to Bridgestone Corporation. According to the company, high recycled content halves the CO2 footprint of its product, and such certification helps meet demand from customers and end markets while addressing a “critical challenge in the industry.”

Hyundai Motor and Kia have been busy of late. In addition to announcing their new Universal Wheel Drive System, the vehicle makers say they’ve developed a new snow chain-integrated tyre technology that eliminates the need to fit a vehicle with snow chains. The technology uses shape memory alloy modules located inside the wheel and tyre that protrude to act as a ‘snow chain’ when an electrical signal is received.
