Hankook all-season, winter tyres gain top tyre test results in 2023 season
Hankook has achieved several top results in the latest round of independent tyre tests of winter and all-season tyres. Hankook’s Winter i*cept and Kinergy 4S tyre lines gained several podium finishes in tests by such leading independent testers as ADAC, Auto Bild and Auto Express, scoring particularly highly in the dry and wet as well as in snow.

Hiboo integrates Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty data in first for manufacturer’s OTR fleet data business
Goodyear has integrated its data into a third-party system in its tyre management solutions for the Off-The-Road (OTR) industry with the Hiboo platform. By adding data yielded from Goodyear TPMS Heavy Duty, users of the platform can access unified tyre health and vehicle performance analytics. Goodyear says the integration helps drive OTR fleet’s operational efficiency. Unexpected machine stoppages and inappropriate tyre pressure can easily lead to breakdowns, which incur heavy costs in any segment – even more so in OTR applications, where access to maintenance and replacement products can be more challenging than in on-road commercial applications. The manufacturer says that the key to supporting these demands lies in harnessing the power of data integration proactively to enable more preventative maintenance.

Mitas Terra Force tyres OE on Beta Xtrainer enduro bikes
Mitas will provide its Terra Force branded tyres to renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer Beta Motorcycles in a new original equipment partnership for the off-road market. Mitas said the Terra Force-EF Super passed numerous rigorous performance tests to meet Beta’s requirements. Designed for Fast Enduro, the tyre will be fitted to the 2024 Beta Xtrainer 250 and 300 models.

BA Bush team join Ascenso at Agritechnica
UK distributor BA Bush & Son travelled to Germany this week to visit the Ascenso team at the Agritechnica fair. Matt Smith represented BA Bush at Ascenso’s conference during the huge agricultural sector show, where he was joined by Nigel, Ben and Thomas Bush. The team also inspected some new Ascenso European original equipment fitments such as the Briri trailer fitted with Ascenso 710/50R30.5 FTR170 tyres. In addition, the Bush team met up with a number of other customers and suppliers and met with other Ascenso dealers from across the globe.

Firestone launches ‘EV-ready’ Roadhawk 2 Enliten
Firestone has launched the new Roadhawk 2 Enliten summer touring tyre. The Bridgestone brand says the new model offers “best-in-class wet grip” as well as longer mileage and a greater than 10 per cent reduction in rolling resistance, optimising fuel or energy consumption, based on internal testing on size 225/55 R17 101W. The integration of Bridgestone’s Enliten technology, which reduces material consumption and tyre weight, as well as using the new NanoPro-Tech high-silica compound for greater wear resistance, ensures the Roadhawk 2 Enliten is an “EV-ready tyre”: a tyre suitable for fitment on vehicles using and electric or conventional combustion engine powertrain. The new tyre will be available from January 2024 in 17-21” sizes to cover 90 per cent of the market. After the addition of 16” sizes in 2025, the range will comprise 112 size variations. The Firestone Roadhawk 2 Enliten is the successor to the Roadhawk summer touring tyre.

Newport haulier predicts ‘£50k-plus’ annual savings from Michelin Connected Fleet solutions
Newport haulier Jaga Brothers says it has saved £35,000 in fuel costs across its fleet of 42 trucks and a further £5,600 in tyre replacements on its 130 trailers, following its partnership with Michelin Connected Fleet. The company added that its access to vehicle data analysis has helped its drivers to implement driving behaviour improvements, further affecting positively its cost savings. The company was already using an exclusively Michelin tyre policy before rolling out the Connected Fleet solutions that have yielded additional efficiencies. Jaga Brothers managing director, James Hill, says: “The Michelin Connected Fleet solutions have had a huge financial impact on our business. Our aim was for the service to start paying for itself in the first year and the figures so far have exceeded our expectations.”

Nokian Tyres developing tyres for Polestar 0 project
