Apollo launches Alnac 4G all season and winter tyres
With its sights set on gaining a bigger part of the European tyre market, on 27 May Apollo Tyres introduced two new tyres in Essen. The two new tyres, Apollo Alnac 4G All Season and Apollo Alnac 4G Winter tyres, joined to the existing range of Apollo Alnac 4G tyres being sold in Europe. Both tyres were developed in Apollo Tyres’ Global R&D Centre in the Netherlands and have been optimised to suit the requirements of European drivers and the European road network. While this was going on in the foreground, in the background the company has been involved in complex discussions relating to its much publicised plans to build an Eastern European factory. Continental OE on Maserati Ghibli
Maserati has homologated Continental’s ContiSportContact 5 for original equipment on its Ghibli. The Continental tyre will be supplied in eight 18 to 12-inch dimensions, and all Maserati-approved fitments will carry the letters ‘MGT’ on the sidewall. The Ghibli approval follows last year original equipment homologation for the Quattroporte.

Avon ZZ5 now offering across the board ‘A’ for wet grip
All sizes in Avon Tyres’ flagship range now carry an ‘A’ label rating for wet grip, reports Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe. This rating upgrade comes courtesy of a reformulated compound and the utilisation of a high-dispersion silica tread. Previously the line-up, which includes W and Y speed rated fitments for 17 to 19-inch rims, included both ‘A’ and ‘B’ wet grip rated tyres.

At the end of April Cam International previewed its new e-jobsheet.com product at the CV Show. In May the product got its official launch at the Reifen show in Essen. In the month between the two events, the company finished the prototype system that it developed in partnership with Bridgestone and secured the interest of two further partners. Tyres & Accessories interviewed Bridgestone Europes Neil Purves (senior manager, automated inspection and systems development commercial product) and Cam Internationals Steve Daly in April and attended the launch in May in order to find out more.

TerraCoolant Exchange Machine
Randstad Ltd has launched a new TerraCoolant Exchange Machine into the UK automotive aftermarket, which quickly flushes and refills a vehicle’s cooling system. As coolant becomes contaminated, it deteriorates and its additive package depletes. Scale and rust can form in the cooling system, which dramatically decreases the system’s ability to draw heat away from the engine. Old coolant also loses its ability to prevent corrosion.

OTR and industrial tyre specialist Magna Tyres Group reports that its debut as a TOC Europe exhibitor was a positive experience for the Netherlands-based company. Magna Tyres was present at the port handling trade show, held at ExCel London between 24 and 26 June, and shares that the amount of visitors exceeded its expectations. The company decided to exhibit at TOC Europe 2014 in order to further expand awareness of the Magna brand in the port handling segment and to reach a specific audience of port authorities, terminal operators and port equipment fleet managers. Based on the success enjoyed at this year’s show, Magna Tyres says it has already signed up for TOC Europe 2015 in Rotterdam.

On 23 June Apollo Vredestein introduced a new generation of all-season tyres – the Vredestein Quatrac 5. In parallel the company also launched the new Snowtrac 5 winter tyre. However, as much as the launch was about these products and the technology associated with them, there was also a heavy emphasis on further communicating the upwardly mobile so-called “brand emotion” the company has work hard to associated with its name during the last two decades. The launch could also be read as suggesting a broadening in the companys pioneering approach to the development of the winter tyre market in the UK to include a greater role for all-season tyres.
