AP Racing continues Radi-CAL approach to brake fluid
Coventry-based performance braking and clutch systems manufacturer AP Racing has realigned its brake fluids range to embrace its ‘Radi-CAL’ philosophy of innovation and development. Following the launch of AP Racing’s R4 brake fluid last year – a product said to have the highest dry boiling point of any racing brake fluid currently available, the company has now rebranded the remaining products in its brake fluid line-up. AP Racing says this change will make it even easier for customers to pick the right product - no matter the application.

Pirelli leading the market in premium winter tyre OE
The development of the winter tyre market has been a topic of discussion for years now. During the last decade this niche segment has experienced significant growth (see chart 1). And while winter tyres still only account for between one and two per cent UK replacement market share, that isn’t the case across Europe where winter tyre share exceeds 50 per cent. Besides, that doesn’t negate the safety benefits these products offer. Neither does it undermine the retail opportunities available to the trade. And of course the development of winter tyres – as with summer tyres and other products – is best done in partnership with original equipment manufacturers. With all this in mind, it is no surprise that premium-focused manufacturer Pirelli invests what it does in the development, distribution and crucially the communication of the benefits of winter tyres. For example Pirelli held a series of experience events earlier this summer in order to not only explain but also demonstrate the benefits of winter tyres to market customers and partners. Tyres & Accessories attended one such event at Tamworth Snowdome and learnt how strong Pirelli is in this segment and experience the difference winter tyres make – especially on luxury 4x4 vehicles.

How PCL is improving the standard of inflation technology in China
Following the news that PCL couplings will now no longer be gold in colour, Tyres & Accessories visited the company’s Sheffield manufacturing. After this – in order to get a more global perspective – T&A visited PCL’s China operation and interviewed local general manager Robert Wang. China is, of course, a key growth market for many in the automotive and automotive aftermarket industries who are seeking to capitalise on the country’s strong manufacturing base, huge population and growing middle class. PCL is no-different, having relatively recently established its Shanghai operation as a means of getting a foothold in China. However it is also a complex market where market saturation and counterfeiting are barriers to entry and development.

SRI says the new tyre has 50 per cent lower rolling resistance than the standard Japanese replacement market Dunlop tyre in 2008, the year it set out to achieve this goal.
