The original equipment supply relationship between Hankook Tire and truck trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull AG has been extended by the signing of an agreement said to detail the two companies’ further long-term cooperation. According to the terms of this agreement, Hankook’s original equipment business with Schmitz Cargobull will initially concentrate on the European market. Nine 19.5 and 22.5 inch trailer sizes from the e-cube range, including the new 455/40 R 22.5 e-cube MAX, and the SmartWork range will be supplied to the trailer manufacturer.

There’s an all-new Ford Mustang, and Michelin has already reported that it is supplying tyres to certain models, specifically the Shelby GT350R Mustang and the Shelby GT350 Mustang. Hankook Tire will also provide tyres to the 2015 version of the ‘pony car’. The company says it has been selected as an original equipment supplier for the Ford Mustang V6 and EcoBoost. Both the V6 and EcoBoost base level vehicles will be factory equipped with Hankook Tires Ventus S1 noble2 (Pattern Code: H452) all-season tyre in size 235/55R17H.

Nokian Tyres will bring a new portfolio of five new tyres to Central Europe, as the manufacturer targets growth in the region. Calling Central Europe the worlds largest market area for winter tyres, the Finnish manufacturer said that approximately 70 million winter tyres were sold in 2014, meaning the segment is growing faster than the overall market. With the faster growth experienced in some of Europe’s lesser heralded economic nations than in the traditional big five markets, tyre markets are expected to expand, while Nokian also predicts the continued spread of winter tyre legislation. Therefore Central Europe has become one of Nokian’s most important areas for growth.

Sailun spent 2014 supporting the growth of its passenger car tyre range, with a number of dealer and tyre testing events, as well as prominent stands at the world’s biggest tyre fairs. Having appointed ex-Kumho technical director, Thomas Jang in November 2013 to oversee the development of its PCR products, Sailun’s European operation has also worked to support its dealers, increasing its business development staff based in Solihull, and co-hosting events such as a week of tyre testing at the historic Lohéac circuit and one for winter tyres in at the Alpine track in Val d’Isère, both with French distributor, Distri Cash.

Giti Tire will launch its latest GT Radial next generation drive axle tyre at CV Show 2015. Making its debut at stand 4G40, the GDR638 is a high-performance drive axle tyre designed specifically for medium-sized trucks and buses. The tyre will be available in April in sizes 245/70R17.5 and 235/75R17.5, with seven further 17.5” and 19.5” sizes due before the end of the year.

Michelin will present its largest ever display of 17.5” and 19.5” tyres at this year’s CV Show, following the roll-out of additional sizes and tread patterns in its X Multi range. Six of the new tyres will feature on Michelin’s 144m² stand in Hall 5, including three multi-position and three drive patterns – each safer, more fuel-efficient, quieter and longer-lasting than the ten year old XDE2s they replace. The new range is purpose-designed for small and medium trucks from 7.5 to 16 tonnes, as well as midi-coaches.
