Michelin hard surface tyres stand the test of time for W Dale & Son
Ripon-based W Dale & Son has recorded superb longevity from the Michelin BibLoad Hard Surface tyres it specified as original equipment on a JCB Agri Super telehandler. The agricultural and recycling contractor has clocked up more than 5,300 hours on the durable 460/70 R24 fitments, which still have more than 10mm of the original 33mm tread left on the casing.

Hyundai Motor and Kia have been busy of late. In addition to announcing their new Universal Wheel Drive System, the vehicle makers say they’ve developed a new snow chain-integrated tyre technology that eliminates the need to fit a vehicle with snow chains. The technology uses shape memory alloy modules located inside the wheel and tyre that protrude to act as a ‘snow chain’ when an electrical signal is received.

The off-highway specialist developed this tyre for tractors fitted with forward-mounted harvesters and employed in applications such as olive, pistachio and grape harvesting.

Continental is supplying its ContiRaceAttack 2 as an original equipment tyre for what is billed as the world’s lightest and most powerful crossover bike, the new BMW M 1000 XR. It will wear the front tyre in 120/70 and the rear in 200/55 – both in combination with the standard 17-inch forged aluminium and with the optional M carbon wheels.

Dunlop is extending its Econodrive range of light truck tyres to include winter and all-season fitments. Two new products, the Dunlop Econodrive AS (all-season) and Dunlop Econodrive Winter, expand the existing Dunlop Econodrive light truck range. This includes the summer tyres Dunlop Econodrive and Dunlop Econodrive LT. Dunlop said the new additions help to position the brand to compete in the value segment of the light truck tyre market.

The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. has confirmed that it is supplying its Advan dB V551 and Aspec A349 tyres as original equipment (OE) to Honda Motor Co. Ltd. for use on the brand’s new Odyssey minivan, which is slated for December 2023 launch in Japan. Specifically, the Odyssey is being equipped with the Advan dB V551 in 225/50R18 95V and Aspec A349 in 215/60R17 96H.

Britain’s new light commercial vehicle (LCV) market grew by 12.7 per cent in November as 27,433 vans, pickups and 4x4s joined Britain’s fleets, according to the latest figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The performance is 4.6 per cent above pre-pandemic 2019 levels and represents 11 consecutive months of rising demand, totalling 311,754 units – the largest volume for two years as product availability continues to improve.
