TyreSafe releases TPMS info video
Tyre pressure monitoring systems are an effective safety feature, but as of January 2015 they also provide an extra way for a vehicle to fail its MoT. Safety organisation TyreSafe notes that public awareness of TPMS is not particularly high, and to remedy this it has produced a simple video to help motorists understand the technology’s safety features. The TPMS video is part of a wider TPMS campaign from TyreSafe, which has produced a range of informational products including leaflets and posters that can be found on the TyreSafe.org website.

A total of three Mitas CR-01 crane tyre sizes are now available following the introduction of two additional fitments. The new tyres will be on display at the Intermat exhibition in Paris from 20 to 25 April (stand E051, hall 5a), and Andrew Mabin, Mitas’ marketing and sales director, confirms that “new sizes of CR-01 crane tyres are now ready for shipment to our customers.” The new CR-01 sizes are 385/95R25 CR-01 170F TL and 525/80R25 CR-01 176F TL. These tyres are respectively designed for speeds of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) and 90 km/h (56 mph).

This one almost slipped through under the Tyrepress.com radar – in late February, Gute Fahrt – a German magazine dedicated to the Volkswagen and Audi brands – put ten summer tyres to the test. An Audi A3 and VW Golf were used to evaluate the size 225/45 R17 tyres at Pirelli’s Vizzola test facility in Italy. The result? Three tyres – the Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT, Hankook Ventus S1 evo2 and Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue ended the test with exactly the same number of points and a rating of ‘very good’, and were named joint winners.

The provider of wheel aligners, lifts and a broad range of other equipment and tools said that the initiative represented a longer term approach in training up inexperienced individuals receptive to Hofmann Megaplan’s “way of doing business.” The company added that “finding new recruits who can demonstrate the passion and commitment to our brand and philosophy has proven difficult, as those coming from competitors or other sectors within garage equipment often have their own set ways and opinions.”
