Ecobat Battery upgrades product data
Ecobat Battery, the UK’s largest battery distributor, has worked with MAM Software to update its Autocat data. According to the company, the update “completely revitalises the application links and includes extensive OE and aftermarket cross references for both the…Lucas, and value orientated, Numax brands.” In addition to the revised data linkages, the data also includes product images “to provide an even greater level of accuracy during the specification process”.

Pirelli has supplied tyres to every generation of the Porsche Cayenne since it was introduced in 2002, a partnership that is continuing with the latest facelift model. Pirelli is supplying the P Zero ultra-high performance summer tyre, the sports performance P Zero Corsa, and the Scorpion Winter 2 cold weather tyre in special bespoke versions. Pirelli will also offer the Scorpion Zero All Season in some markets. The tyres cover every size option on the new model, which features rim sizes between 20 and 22 inches.

Goodyear has recalled 477 potentially defective Dunlop motorcycle tyres. In a notification published by the European Commission, the tyre maker shares that the size 120/70ZR17 M/C (58W) Dunlop RoadSmart III tyres, which Goodyear manufactured between 21 August and 10 September 2023 and also between 13 and 26 November 2023, may contain a “manufacturing defect” that “could lead to a tread separation.”

Vehicle manufacturers typically demand customised tyres for their cars. To denote this exclusive tailoring, tyres that are approved or factory fitted as original equipment display a special marking on the sidewall. The best-known of these OE tyre designations include those for Porsche (N0, N1, ...), BMW (*) and Mercedes (MO), although other brands, from Alfa Romeo to Volvo, also have their own individual sidewall marking. We recently became aware of something new that flies – at least in part – in the face of this concept of original equipment tyres specially tailored to a specific vehicle model.
