Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe 2016 now out
This week saw the release of the 2016 edition of the Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe, a publication that features the best hotels and restaurants in 44 major cities throughout 20 European countries. This 35th edition of the guide features five restaurants that have gained three stars, bringing the total number of three-starred premises up to 19. In addition, 15 restaurants gained two-star status and 48 picked up a single star.

Mitas introducing new earthmover tyre range, size additions at Bauma
At next month’s Bauma show, Mitas will unveil a brand new tyre for rigid dump trucks. The ERD-45, which will initially be available as a size 18.00R33 fitment, will go on sale in May and is designed for use in hard surface conditions. Mitas says the ERD-45 offers excellent traction, and the tyre’s sidewall protection offers good cut resistance. Three further sizes, 21.00R33, 21.00R35 and 24.00R35, will join the ERD-45 range in 2017 and 2018.

Lotus chooses Yokohama tyres for ‘fastest ever’ Elise
Yokohama tyres have been selected as the original equipment fitment for what Lotus says is the “fastest road-going Elise ever,” the Elise Cup 250. It will wear the Advan A048 LTS, a Lotus-approved and developed version of Yokohama’s road-legal track day tyre, in size 195/50 R16 at the front and 225/45 R17 at the rear.

Blackpool Transport signs Michelin Effitires contract
Blackpool Transport has agreed a five-year renewal of its Effitires by Michelin solutions comprehensive tyre management programme. The pence-per-mile deal covers Blackpool Transport’s 38 midibuses, 24 full-size single-deck buses and 73 double-deckers, all of which operate from the company’s central depot in Rigby Road. A 10-vehicle ‘reserve fleet’ is also covered under the Effitires contract, as are the Leyland Olympian open-topped and Leyland Atlantean AN68 buses maintained as part of Blackpool Transport’s “heritage fleet”.
