Gerard De Rooy and his team chose the tyre for its four race trucks as well as fitting Goodyear Omnitrac mixed service tyres to their service trucks. The team will target a repeat success with the support of the tyre manufacturer, which will provide testing and back-up.

Delphi launches copper-free brake pad range
Delphi Product & Service Solutions has launched its new copper-free brake pad range. The parts manufacturer says its new formulas offer improved brake fade performance for increased safety, feel, and refinement as well as the environmental benefits. The range offers 95 per cent car parc coverage of European and Asian applications. The launch comes nine years ahead of 2025 legislation to reduce copper materials in braking components to just 0.5 per cent.

SnapSkan will use TreadReader Drive Over ramps to provide a service that SigmaVision says will help to advance its “Beyond the Workshop” strategy. Dr Andrew Pryce, Sigmavision’s managing director, commented “The opportunity to progress our ‘Beyond the Workshop’ strategy with Nokian Tyres plc is a significant step and we are also delighted to welcome Nokian Tyres as a shareholder in our business.”

The 2015 financial year delivered Italian workshop equipment manufacturer Butler the best turnover in the company’s history. The 1988-established firm achieved sales revenues of 32 million euros last year, more than a fifth the entire turnover of the Samiro Group, to which Butler has belonged for the past decade or so. The other Samiro Group companies may also be familiar to those in the tyre and automotive industries; these are Ravaglioli, Space and Sirio. The first of these is the largest Samiro business, accounting for 75 to 80 million of the group’s total turnover of 142 million euros.

Michelin: ‘low accidental damage claims rate demonstrates reliability’
Michelin states that its accidental damage guarantee for its regional and construction tyre ranges is delivering on its promise of first class reliability and uptime for commercial vehicle fleets. The manufacturer has received 98 claims for damage in the six months from 1 May to 31 October 2016, of which 92 were accepted as valid – from more than 54,000 eligible tyres sold on the replacement market.

However, there is also “a distinct weakening of the market in the second half of the year” according to CLEAR analysts who suggest the market is now forecasting a weaker fourth quarter than was predicted earlier in 2016. Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain are all less buoyant markets than they were assumed to be six months ago.
