EDT Automotive on year of growth and industry acclaim
Kent based engine cleaning company EDT Automotive states that it has improved the performance of more than 12,000 cars in a year, having secured placement of its EDT machines in 45 more locations nationwide. The pay-as-you-go engine and auto transmission detox machines remove harmful deposits from inside the engine left behind in a standard oil change. EDT states this enhances drivability and a reduction in overall CO emissions.

Bridgestone has announced its aim of bringing airless tyres to market by 2019, however don’t expect to find them in sizes suitable for your car. The commercialisation of the company’s Air Free Concept, which was first shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013, will begin with a non-pneumatic bicycle tyre. Together with Bridgestone Cycle Co., Ltd, Bridgestone Corporation has developed what it calls a “next-generation bicycle tyre” as part of the Air Free project, and now plans to undertake feasibility studies ahead of a market launch.

GT Radial extends UHP SportActive range with SUV version
Giti Tire has extended the scope of its ultra-high performance tyre, introducing the GT Radial SportActive SUV derivative. The manufacturer has made seven 18-19” SUV sizes available initially, across speed indices V-W, section widths from 225 to 255 and series sizes 50 to 60. Giti states that it is targeting SUVs with dynamic performance and powerful engines such as the Audi Q3, Range Rover Evoque and BMW X3.

The East European market grew by over 5.1 per cent in 2016 and further growth is forecast for 2017, according to Clear International. The figure for 2016 is considerably lower than was anticipated at the beginning of the year and the difference is almost entirely attributable to developments in Turkey. Political instability had already undermined business confidence in early 2016 and then in mid year there was an attempted military coup. This had a dire and worsening effect on business investment resulting in 19,000 trailers being wiped from the Turkish forecast.
