Pirelli says it is continuing its 70-year relationship with Ferrari and the “shared goal of keeping timeless classics on the road with safety and efficiency” with the launch of Pirelli P Zero Corsa System tyres dedicated to the Ferrari Enzo. These tyres for the 2002-launched Enzo come in size 245/35 R19 for the front wheels and 345/35 R19 size for the rear. Like all tyres in the Collezione range, these products have an identical appearance to the original but are made with modern materials and technologies.

Prometeon Tyre Group has unveiled its first Prometeon-branded tyres – the Serie 02 – at a special ceremony in the shadow of the Giza pyramids in Egypt. According to the company, an intensive R&D programme saw 6,000-plus tyres tested and more than 200 million kilometres covering all climatic and road conditions. The Prometeon-branded Serie 02 tyres will initially be produced at the company’s Alexandria plant and made available to markets in Egypt, other Middle East nations and Africa. The new tyres will be distributed in Europe, including the UK, by the end of 2024.

UK demand for new light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose by 5.4 per cent in April as more businesses invested in the latest models, according to new figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 23,889 new vans, 4x4s and pickups were registered, the highest total for the month since 2021, as fleets invested in vehicles to support local trades, doorstep services and other increasingly vital parts of the logistics sector.

UK new car registrations grew for the 21st consecutive month in April, rising by a modest 1.0 per cent to reach 134,274 units, according to the latest data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). As a result, this was the market’s best April since 2021, although uptake was still -16.6 per cent below the pre-pandemic level in what is traditionally a low volume month following the March plate change.

“After a rocky end to Q1 with March seeing a fall in registrations, Q2 has started positively with a 1.1 per cent increase in total registrations for April in a sign that the new motorcycle market is getting back on track” says Symon Cook, Head of National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA), commenting on the latest MCIA registration figures. In April, there was a 1.1 per cent increase in total registrations, from 9,848 to 9,960 units. Total moped and motorcycle sales have increased by 24.9 per cent and 0.2 per cent respectively. Year-to-date figures see total registrations slightly higher than at the same point last year, increasing from 37,870 to 37,912, a 0.1 per cent rise.

Nokian Tyres reports that its latest generation summer and all-season tyres for European markets have passed comparison testing conducted by TÜV SÜD. The tyre maker commissioned TÜV SÜD to carry out independent tests on three key models: Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 1 for all-season use, and the summer variants Nokian Tyres Powerproof 1 and Nokian Tyres Wetproof 1. Each tyre underwent comprehensive assessments against four competitor tyre brands at TÜV SÜD Automotives independent wheel and tyre technology centre in Europe.
