Kumho Crugen HP71 coming to UK
The Kumho Crugen HP71 SUV tyre, recipient of a 2017 Red Dot Award For Product Design, will be released in global markets within the next two years. According to Kumho Tire Europe, this rollout includes a launch in Europe and the UK.

A second Porsche OE homologation has been announced for the Sport Maxx Race 2: The Dunlop tyre has gained approval by Porsche as original equipment for on road use on the new 911 GT2 RS in the sizes 265/35 ZR 20 (99Y) XL and 325/30 ZR 21 (108Y) XL. Porsche gave the Dunlop tyre its blessing after intensive testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany and on Porsche’s proving ground in Nardò in Italy. The Sport Maxx Race 2 is already approved for the Porsche 911 GT3.

The entry of Belarus-based tyre maker Belshina into the giant tyre market comes another step forward with the successful testing of the 57- and 63-inch tyres at quarry sites. The tyres were fitted to 360 and 450 tonne payload BelAZ dump trucks; Belshina has been approved as an original equipment supplier to the manufacturer, whose BelAZ 75710 is said to be the highest capacity haul truck in the world. Belshina reports that the results of these operational tests are a prelude to volume production.

Scientists at NASAs Glenn Research centre are offering a non-pneumatic tyre up for licence as part the space agency’s technology transfer programme. The “superelastic” tyre was developed for future Mars missions but is said to be a viable alternative to pneumatic tyres here on Earth. This technology represents the latest evolution of the spring tyre which was invented by NASA Glenn and Goodyear, and inspired by the Apollo lunar tyres.
