Oak Group Holdings, the parent company of Davanti Tyres and wholesaler Oak Tyres, will launch a second proprietary tyre brand at The Tire Cologne next week. Envoy Tyres is styled as a “new, value tyre brand” with a mission to “deliver exceptional value and quality,” and will reach the market with a range of four initial products in the last quarter of 2024. All four products will be available to preview at Koelnmesse (Hall 6.1, Stand E-038; 4-6 June). Oak Group will follow a similar strategy to the successful 2015 launch of Davanti in various markets around the world, and will start to seek key national distribution partners at Europe’s premier tyre expo next week.

Supplier of auto accessories and private labelling manufacturer, Simply Brands, commissioned an independent test for its recently launched wiper blade range - and passed with flying colours. The independent testing was conducted in the USA at ARDL, a renowned ISO accredited rubber mixing and testing facility used by leading brands and original equipment (OE) manufacturers. Testing was done under OE-standard (SAE J 903 C) conditions and, as well as testing initial wipe quality, the wipers were put through a 500,000 wipe cycle durability test to ensure their lifespan. Completing the testing for the flat blades was a wind-lift test, which showed a remarkable result of zero wind lift even at speeds of 100mph.

Goodyear Farm Tires will welcome speciality tyre and wheel manufacturer Carlstar to Hall 6.1, Stand CO19 at The Tire in Cologne next week. Titan International, the parent company of Goodyear Farm Tires in North America and Europe after it bought the licence for both markets around a decade ago, recently completed its acquisition of Carlstar Group in a $296 million purchase. Carlstar representatives will present the brand’s product range to visitors to The Tire Cologne, while Goodyear Farm Tires will display its own flagship products, between 4 and 6 June.

Falken entered the European ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) market in 2023 with the Azenis RS820. The new pattern is designed to offer responsive handling, balanced wet and dry grip and impressive feel on both road and track. Available in an initial 38 sizes between 19 and 21 inches and a Y speed index rated up to 300km/h, the Azenis RS820 is derived from Falken’s race-winning motorsport technologies and experience honed over 20 years’ competition on the Nürburgring. The tyre provides a fitment option to a range of high-performance cars and SUVs. Falken’s development teams in Europe and Japan collaborated to produce its first UUHP pattern for the region, on that has benefited from the company’s “From track to Tarmac” development philosophy, according to product manager Philipp Wolz.

The percentage of company cars being fitted with 18 inch-plus tyres has increased by a third in three years, new data released by epyx shows. In the first quarter of 2021, 42 per cent of cars fitted with tyres through the business’s TyreServe service were 18 inches or over. This increased to 47 per cent in for the same period in 2022, 52 per cent in 2023 and 56 per cent in 2024.
