Continental simplifying truck portfolio with Eco 5
Following on from the initial unveiling of its fifth generation Eco truck tyre line in April, Continental has confirmed that the new Conti Eco HS5 steer and Conti Eco HD5 drive tyres will soon replace the existing long-distance-focused Conti EcoPlus tyre and the Conti EcoRegional tyre for mixed distribution fleets in the UK market.

Some people criticised the recent ADAC all-season tyre test for not featuring newer models such as the Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6, Continental AllSeasonContact 2, and Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF3. This exclusion was due to the clubs lengthy lead times. In contrast, Auto Bild Sportscars included at least two of these tyres in its spring 2024 comparative evaluation of all-season tyres. Additionally, Italian magazine Al Volante recently published an all-season tyre test featuring all three newcomers, with the freshest of the trio snatching victory.

In one recent tyre spend analysis, i247 Group found savings in excess of £1million.

Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship concludes this weekend (19 to 21 July) with a final event in the UK. The final two races of the season at the Hankook London E-Prix will determine the new Formula E world champion. Leading the standings going into the final round is New Zealander Nick Cassidy of the Jaguar TCS Racing team, who currently has 167 points. Close behind are fellow New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) and German driver Pascal Wehrlein (Porsche), both with 155 points. Fourth-placed António Félix da Costa (TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team) has also been performing strongly, winning four of the last five races. Seven drivers remain in the running to win the championship at the end of the weekend.
