A new powder coatings technology providing improved electrical protection for electric vehicle (EV) battery systems has been developed by AkzoNobel’s Resicoat brand. The company says there is growing demand in the EV market for coatings with a high dielectric strength to help increase the safety of battery systems. The company’s solution allows customers to reach the required film thickness with a single spray, also boosting efficiency and productivity. Available in China, the new technology is suitable for battery system parts such as cooling plates, side plates and battery covers (enclosures).

Klarius has added 33 new emission control components, including a new aftermarket catalytic converter and several more options for the Mercedes C-Class. The 1993 launched C-Class provided an entry-level version of the luxurious S-Class, popular enough to entre its fifth generation 30 years later. The fourth generation (W205) was launched in 2014 at the North American International Auto Show with bold new styling, four different body types and a new, lighter design that used aluminium and high strength throughout the body. On the market until 2021, the fourth generation C-Class also had an update in 2019, which altered parts including the exhaust components.

The latest commercial vehicle registration figures from the ACEA show European Union markets grew in the first half of 2024. This was led by new EU van sales, which increased by 15 per cent, reaching 840,409 units. Surging new van demand was driven by double-digit growth in key markets; Germany lead with a 19.3 per cent rise, followed by Spain at 18.5 per cent, Italy at 17.8 per cent, and France at 10.5 per cent.
