SMP Europe highlights growth of engine management range
SMP Europe has expanded its range of ignition and engine management products with 17 new part numbers. These include eight ignition coils, four crank sensors, two cam sensors, one air mass meter, one exhaust gas temperature sensor and one particulate matter sensor. The Nottingham company is home of the Lucas, Lemark and Intermotor brands.

Unit sales of both all season and winter tyres grew in the UK, comparing the period April 2023 to March 2024 with the previous 12-month period. However the character of each segment is very different, as we can see from the latest data on this segment from market analysis firm GfK. The most recent generations of all season tyres from premium manufacturers, broadly dated from the introduction of the first Michelin CrossContact, and latterly from brands at lower price points, have helped to establish these tyres with wider temperature operating windows as a strong growth segment.

Webfleet has achieved a new milestone by breaking the Guinness World Records title for the longest journey by an electric car on a single charge, covering 569.64 miles. The Bridgestone fleet management solution accomplished this EV benchmark in a Bridgestone-shod Ford Mustang Mach-E with sponsored drivers Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, supported by co-pilot Richard Parker of Webfleet. Independently verified video footage, odometer readings, GPS data, and battery level information from Webfleet meticulously documented the record attempt.

The new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is available with Hankook Ventus S1 evo Z tyres as an original fitment. Hankook Tire is supplying bespoke versions of this UUHP tyre, with a modified tread pattern and compound, to ensure the 585 hp / 430 kW car achieves “maximum grip even in extreme driving conditions.” The tyre maker says that this OEM approval, including the vehicle manufacturer’s M01 (Mercedes-AMG Original) symbol on the tyre’s sidewall, marks the “first partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Hankook.”
