From the end of January 2022, tyre data will also be available – in the TecDoc Catalogue, via Web Service and in the data packages. This update brings size- or vehicle model-based information about summer, winter and all-season tyres to the catalogue, and Continental is the first tyre manufacturer to present its brands.

Nexen Tire is an original equipment supplier to the VW Golf in the UK and Europe, and in other markets it is also supplying a Volkswagen model no longer sold here. The facelifted version of the seventh-generation VW Jetta will come with Nexen tyres as original equipment. Nexen Tire shares that it will supply its Nexen N’Fera AU7 all-season performance tyre as original equipment for the VW saloon.

Falken Tyre Europe will increase the prices of its entire product portfolio by nine per cent on 1 May 2022. Falken states the increase reflects global rises in costs for raw materials, energy, and logistics. This price rise does not affect UK Falken customers, where the brand is distributed exclusively by Micheldever Tyre Services. Like Falken, MTS is owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries. A Falken spokesperson told Tyrepress that MTS would inform its customers of any price rise affecting the UK.

Indian manufacturer Ceat Limited intends to launch a range of truck radial tyres in Europe during the first half of this year. Speaking during an earnings call yesterday, managing director Anant Goenka said the range would arrive in “four to six months’ time” and further push the strong growth the company is already experiencing in the region. The line-up would be similarly positioned to the “Korean players” in the market, he added.

Dunlop has launched Qualifier Core, the latest member in its hypersport tyre family and successor to the Qualifier II. It says this new tyre delivers “superb but affordable performance” for riders of a wide range of entry-level and mid-range sports bikes. The range arrived in January in three popular sizes: 120/70ZR17 (front), 160/60ZR17 (rear) and 180/55ZR17 (rear). Dunlop will release a further front size (120/60ZR17) and three new rear sizes (190/50ZR17, 190/55ZR17 and 200/50ZR17) in the final quarter of 2022.
