Platinum grade for 6 HiQ centres
Beginning in May, HiQ Tyres & Autocare tasked specialist automotive consultancy CAR Consulting Group with performing a nationwide audit of its network. All 160 centres took part in an audit that evaluated more than 200 parameters, including aesthetics, customer service and technical expertise. CAR Consulting Group has now concluded the audit, and HiQ reports that the results show a 27.6 per cent improvement since the last evaluation.

Continental’s agricultural tyre division has extended its CombineMaster tyre range to bring very high flexion (VF) and cyclical field operation (CFO) technology to a wider variety of farm machinery. Indeed, Tom Godwin, who is Sales Manager - Agricultural & MPT Tyres (UK & ROI) at Continental, comments that the name CombineMaster “disguises the virtues of this tyre to other machines including loaders, tankers and other types of harvesting machines.”

Beontag, which is known for making RFID and NFC products, has partnered with Michelin to incorporate Beontag’s technology into “millions of new commercial and passenger tyres over the next two years and beyond”. The UHF embedded tag, which consists of a jointly design pod and antenna using state-of-the-art chips and materials, will enable “complete traceability of all new tyres, including manufacture date and storage location, distribution, installation and replacement, refurbishment and more, for the entire life cycle of the tyre”.

By providing real-time information and performing automatic operations, ADAS enhances driving safety and comfort. Key features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, collision warning systems, and parking assistance, for example. As regulations and consumer demand for safety and convenience grow, ADAS is becoming increasingly ubiquitous in modern vehicles. And – perhaps even more importantly for garages – when major work is undertaken on a vehicle as well as an increasing amount of not-so-major work – ADAS requires recalibration. In other words, the tyre and fast-fit garages of today have to know how they are going to handle ADAS-related challenges and questions.
