The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) supports steps India is taking towards stricter waste tyre import rules. In light of the UK’s status as one of the primary exporters of end-of-life tyres to India, TRA secretary general, Peter Taylor OBE, has called for the government to “finally act to update the out of date and failing UK regulatory framework.”

Chinese authorities seize fake Yokohama wheels
Until recently, half a dozen companies in China produced counterfeit Yokohama Advan Racing alloy wheels, but their days of fakery are over thanks to the joint efforts of intellectual property rights holder Yokohama Rubber and the authorities in three cities. Yokohama Rubber speaks of a “successful completion of its efforts to eliminate counterfeit versions of the company’s aluminium wheels in China.”

The 14th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition (ChinaGRTAE) will be held on 15-17 May. The three-day exhibition has more than 780 booths covering eight categories, including tyres, wheels, rubber tyre machinery and equipment, raw rubber materials, automobile repair and maintenance, and automobile accessories. In addition to tyre manufacturers such as Hengfeng and Huasheng, upstream and downstream companies such as Solprima, Xingda Steel Cord, and JD.com will also appear at the 2024 Guangrao tyre exhibition.

In response to a request for information from regional public broadcaster SWR, the public prosecutor’s office (Staatswanwaltschaft) in Koblenz, Germany has confirmed that tyre damage caused the accident which claimed the lives of two Goodyear associates at the Nürburgring last August. The office told SWR an expert has established that the right rear tyre was damaged before the fatal collision.

Named Gemini “after the star sign which can talk to anyone,” according to Autogem, the Gemini can, appropriately, communicate with virtually all vehicle manufacturers, presenting a single solution for aftermarket replacement sensors. Smaller and lighter than Autogem’s previous sensors, the Gemini has a new single-sensor body and come pre-mounted with interchangeable valve stems.
