Tyres are much of a muchness these days, at least to look at. Auto Bild Sportscars laments that tyre brands are no longer easily identifiable by their tread patterns, as the diversity of former times has been replaced by a “yawning boredom in the uniformity of unimaginatively cut longitudinal groove patterns.” But an absence of aesthetic outliers doesn’t mean all tyres offer the same levels of performance or safety.

Interfit showcases material handling tyre services at LogiMAT 2024
The Yokohama TWS-owned Interfit industrial tyre service business, which describes itself as “the global leader for industrial tyre and wheel services”, has been showcasing its portfolio at LogiMAT at Germany’s Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from March 19-21, 2024. The Interfit exhibit includes “complete custom tyre and wheel services tailored specifically for the logistics and material handling industries”. Indeed, Interfit reports that it offers everything from “fleet inspection and personalised tyre consultancy to complete wheel exchange services”.

New Giti Tire Motorsport livery for TOR trucks in BTRC 2024
Team Oliver Racing’s (TOR) British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) entries have unveiled a new Giti Tire Motorsport livery ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch 31 March – 1 April. The bonneted Volvo VNL of Stuart Oliver and MAN TGX 18.480 of Michael Oliver feature new grey, yellow and black racing colours alongside several modifications in their racing set-up. Giti is maintaining its role as official partner and exclusive tyre supplier for the third consecutive season in 2024, its sixth year in the championship. All trucks will race on the Giti Race-Tuned v1 competition truck tyre in size 315/70R22.5.

Giti Tire boosts GitiSportS2 ‘Powered by Sparco’ range in Europe
Giti Tire has increased the available “Powered by Sparco” fitments of its GitiSportS2 ultra-high performance tyre in Europe, adding 22 new dimensions to the existing eight. This version of the tyre, which targets sports cars and premium SUVs with low ratio sizes between 225/45R17 and 315/30R22. All sizes are rated A for wet grip and the majority are speed-rated Y. In total, the GitiSportS2 is now available in 63 sizes with rims from 16-22”, section widths from 195-315, series sizes from 30-55, including SUV, and speed indices from V-Y.

Michelin Molding Solutions (MMS) in Greenville, SC has purchased their second AddUp FormUp 350 Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) machine following the successful installation and operation of their first one in 2022. This machine is the sixth added to an expanding global fleet of FormUp’s currently in use across Europe and North America. According to the company, one FormUp 350 can manufacture the quantity of tyre mould inserts which previously required five metal 3D printers.
