Kirkby Tyres celebrates double victory at 2024 NTDA Awards
Kirkby Tyres won both Tyre Wholesaler of the Year and the Truck & Agricultural Tyre Supplier of the Year at the NTDA’s Tyre Industry Awards 2024, the first time any company has claimed both awards within the same year. Celebrating its 2024 double crown, the Speke-based OTR tyre specialist also pointed to its sustained success at the UK tyre industrys premier awards night. Kirkby Tyres said it was “honoured to continue our successful participation in the ceremony, having been presented an award for either Truck & Agricultural Tyre Supplier of the year or Tyre Wholesaler of the Year for every year of entry.”

Fans have been given the chance vote for their favourite custom car showcased at Toyo Tires’ Treadpass event during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas (5-9 November). The winning vehicle will then be implemented into CSR2 as a playable car in 2025.

(SRI) resolved to end production at the Tonawanda, New York-based plant operated by its Sumitomo Rubber USA, LLC (SRUSA) subsidiary, and to dissolve the subsidiary after “making the necessary preparations.” This decision affects up to 1,555 employees.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved Nokian Tyres’ new greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets, including both near-term targets for 2030 and long-term targets to reach net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by 2050. SBTi approval means that it considers Nokian Tyres’ targets to be in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

Despite no longer manufacturing or even officially selling its products within the country, Nokian Tyres remains Russia’s best-selling brand of studded winter tyres. Statistics from major e-commerce platform Avito for September 2024 show that Nokian Tyres holds a 19 per cent share of this particular market segment, more than double the eight per cent share held by Pirelli. Ikon Tyres, the brand now produced in the former Nokian Tyres plant in Vsevolozhsk, holds a seven per cent stake in the studded winter segment. Cordiant and Michelin each hold a five per cent share.
