14 year old Daniel Harper has beaten off 64 other aspiring racing drivers to secure a fully funded season in the 2016 KICK Start Energy Drink Ginetta Junior Championship. Harper, who hails from County Down in Northern Ireland, impressed across the board during the testing, three day event.

Competing in the Toyo Tires Production BMW Championship, the AlignMyCar liveried BMW E30 raced in front of thousands of motorsport fans at some of the UK’s most prestigious race circuits including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington.

Lewis Hamilton’s 2015 Formula One Drivers’ Championship victory was sealed through a tactical battle in difficult conditions at the United States Grand Prix. Races run in wet to dry conditions always provide a challenge for teams; all the drivers started on new intermediates, waiting for the right crossover point when the track would be dry enough to move onto slicks. Both Hamilton and his team mate Nico Rosberg, who finished second, completed one opening stint on the intermediates followed by two stints on the soft tyre.

Marius Aasen has won the 2015 Drive Dmack Fiesta Trophy, seeing him claim what the World Rally Championship tyre supplier Dmack calls “the biggest prize in rallying;” he will claim a lucrative full seven-round series of 2016 WRC 2 competition using a Drive Dmack Ford Fiesta R5. Aasen completed his title-winning season with victory at the last of five events in Spain. The 23-year old and his co-driver Veronica Engan finished ahead of British rival Tom Cave, who claimed second place overall for the second successive season. The Fiesta Trophy was thrillingly close this season, with seven crews in with a mathematical chance of winning the title heading into the mixed surface RallyRACC-Rally de Espana.

The Metzeler Village has been confirmed for 2016, and registration is now open. The tyre brand says the special campsite will welcome bikers from all over the world, offering a front row seat to watch the races of the Isle of Man TT, held from 28 May until 10 June 2016. The Village itself will open on 2 June to coincide with the bulk of the action, closing on 11 June. Bikers can book online.

Qatar’s Losail International circuit hosted the last round of the eni FIM World Superbike Championship season, with Aprilia riders triumphing in both races, World champion Jonathan Rea, of Kawasaki Racing Team, capped his overall victory with a Pirelli Best Lap award in the first of two races in Qatar, and helped his team to complete its Manufacturer Championship winning season in style. In Supersport, Kyle Smith claimed victory on his Honda, but Kawasaki claimed the overall Manufacturer title too. Pirelli said its tyres performed well, despite the difficult conditions caused by sand on the track.

The distributor’s CEO, Martin Gray, said that the Australian rider’s “performances have helped to increase awareness of the brand and we have seen a significant uplift in Milwaukee power tool sales.”

Josh Brookes’ coronation as 2015 MCE British Superbike Champion at Brands Hatch was aided by the softer (SC0) Pirelli Diablo Superbike rear tyre at Brands Hatch. The Australian rider used the tyre to gain pole position and two race wins in different conditions, achieving fast laps beyond the mid-point in the races.

Pirelli will supply its P Zero Yellow soft and White medium compound tyres as Formula One visits the “crucial market” of the USA on 23-25 October. Austin’s Circuit of the Americas is the tenth venue to have hosted a Formula One grand prix in the United States. The track is well known for its spectacular elevation changes of up to 40 metres, with an uphill run to the distinctive turn one, which is a hairpin bend and the signature corner. Paul Hembery, Pirelli motorsport director said: “The United States always offers us a very warm welcome and a fantastic race weekend. Like all the other stakeholders in Formula One, America is a crucial market for us so it’s very important for us to have a race there.”

The penultimate round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship – the last in Europe – takes place at the Franciacorta International Circuit this weekend, and both the 2015 World RX Drivers’ Championship and Teams’ Championships could be decided. Franciacorta, in northern Italy, will form the final round of this year’s FIA European Rallycross Championship (Euro RX), the Super1600 category plus the supporting RX Lites Cup. The grand finale of the DTM season will be contested on the Hockenheimring, as is traditional, and the touring car series’ exclusive tyre supplier, Hankook will this year celebrate five years and 56 races. For Pascal Wehrlein, the final weekend could turn into a victory parade. The Mercedes-Benz driver currently leads the drivers’ classification with a 37-point advantage and has been allocated just 2.5kg more performance weight than his closest rivals Edoardo Mortara and Mattias Ekström (both Audi).

Pirelli has announced its final round of tyre nominations for the 2015 Formula One season. For the back-to-back USA and Mexico grands prix, Pirelli will provide the P Zero White medium and P Zero Yellow soft tyres. This shows continuity in Austin, being the same nomination as in 2014, while simulation data has indicated that this will also be the best choice for the brand new Mexico City circuit.
