Yokohama HPT to support young UK competitors across motorsport disciplines
Yokohama HPT, the Japanese tyre manufacturer’s UK distributor, will continue to support young drivers and their progression through motorsport in the UK in 2016. YHPT will continue to support starter forms of motorsport for young drivers as well as a route to allow them to progress through the ranks in the three main disciplines: circuit racing, rallying and rallycross.

Goodyear continues as exclusive FIA European Truck Racing tyre supplier
The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has chosen Goodyear as the exclusive tyre partner for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship for the next three years. The partnership extends and expands Goodyear’s long involvement in the series for which it has been producing special developed truck racing tyres since 2004. The tyre manufacturer was rewarded for the proven performance of its tyres with the renewal of its contact, which makes Goodyear a partner of the newly formed ETRA Promotion GmbH (ETRA) – the series’ new promotor.

Pirelli completes Paul Ricard F1 test, developing full wet tyre
Pirelli has concluded a two-day wet tyre test at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France. Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull were present at the test, having accepted Pirelli’s invitation to all the teams to take part. Paul Ricard’s sophisticated variable sprinkler system allowed Pirelli to test with different amounts of water on the track in order to simulate a wide range of wet conditions.

Michelin super soft Pilot Sport SS5 makes competitive rallying debut
With a variety of rallying conditions traversed at Rallye Monte Carlo, the opening round of the 2016 World Rally Championship required competitors to be acutely aware of their tyres, supplier Michelin states. At 1,474.34km, including 16 stages totalling almost 375km, the winter rally is one of the season’s longest, and Michelin’s provision of competitive tyres and a technical support service was vital in order for crews to compete. The tyre manufacturer said the versatility of this year’s tyre selection – two basic types, each available in two variants – allowed the crews to take full advantage of their allocations for the week. The event was the first competitive outing for the super-soft SS5 version of the Michelin Pilot Sport, which features the same construction as the soft Pilot Sport (S5), and was described as the predominant choice for Rallye Monte Carlo.
