Dmack targets home success on GB gravel
Dmack said it would target another top gravel result on its home round of the FIA World Rally Championship next weekend at the penultimate event of the season, Wales Rally GB. The 2016 UK round of the WRC could be one of the toughest in recent history, Dmack states, with new stages, significantly extended competitive sections and lack of mid-leg servicing making it a huge challenge for drivers and tyres alike. Since the supplier introduced a new range of gravel tyres in May, Dmack World Rally Team’s Ott Tänak and Raigo Mõlder have scored 16 fastest stage times and led events in Poland and Finland in their Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

Ekstrom takes RX Championship on Cooper tyres
With just one round to go in the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship, Swedens Mattias Ekstrom has been crowned the new champion after scoring enough points on Cooper tyres last weekend to secure the title. Driving for his own EKS rallycross team, Ekstrom finished fifth at the German RX round in Buxtehude, and is now 30 points ahead of two-time World RX champion Petter Solberg in the driver standings. Even if Ekstrom does not complete the final round of the championship in Argentina in five weeks’ time, a maximum score for Solberg would only draw the Norwegian level and Ekstrom would still win on the countback of victories.

Tyre choice critical for Byrne, Haslam head-to-head at Brands Hatch BSB finale – Pirelli
Pirelli says tyre choice could be crucial as it heads to the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship’s final meeting at Brands Hatch. With riders unanimously choosing the softer (SC0) rear Pirelli Diablo Superbike slick tyre at Brands in August, rubber selection for this weekend’s races may seem straightforward. However, Pirelli explains the track temperature, which was 40 degrees and perfect for the SC0 then, is likely to be much cooler. Leon Haslam and Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne go head to head over three races at the GP circuit to decide the title.

Pilot Sport EV2 brings more range, performance to Formula E
The mission of the FIA Formula E championship is to drive technology from the racetrack to the road, and this means we should be interested in how the second generation of Michelin’s Formula E race tyre performs. The new Pilot Sport EV2’s competitive debut took place at the Hong Kong ePrix on the weekend, allowing us to finally see what Michelin’s claimed “two steps” forward” in development means in terms of performance. Pascal Couasnon, director of Michelin Motorsport, is proud of the evolutionary development present in the second-generation tyre.

Dmack team crowned BRC champions following Manx Victory
Dmack’s dominant one-two victory on Rally Isle of Man, the final round of the MSA British Rally Championship, gave the team a victory lap, having clinched the championship title on the previous event. Elfyn Evans and Craig Parry rounded off their season with their fifth victory from seven rallies, finishing only 5.9 seconds ahead of team-mates Mark Higgins and Darren Garrod. Both crews took wins on 16 of the event’s 20 special stages. The double podium ensured the BRC Teams Championship trophy for the Dmack team, while Dmack runners also won the overall, BRC1, BRC2 and Junior BRC classes. The Michelin shod team of Tom Cave and James Morgan, and Pirelli runners Jonathan Greer and Kirsty Riddick finished on the championship’s second and third podium steps respectively.

With limited experience on asphalt, Dmack played its joker to introduce a new range of tyres at Rally Germany in August. They helped Tänak set top-three stage times.
