Zenises, Z Tyre and Westlake star in Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘The Grand Tour’ finale
Zenises’ diamond and gold embellished world’s most expensive tyre has been featured on Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime vehicle, The Grand Tour. Launching the final show in the series from Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Clarkson introduced the Guinness World Record-holding Z Tyre to the studio audience. The show concluded with co-host Richard Hammond drifting alongside the lead driver of Acorn Zenises Motorsport, Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni.

Bridgestone Corporation reports it is supplying its Racing Battlax tyres to two teams participating in the current FIM Endurance World Championship season. Both the YART Yamaha Official EWC Team and the F.C.C. TSR Honda team will race on the Bridgestone tyres for the next round of the FIM EWC, the 24 Heures Moto at Le Mans on 15 April 2017.

A star-studded driver line-up and some of the world’s leading supercar manufacturers will race exclusively on Pirelli tyres at the Bathurst 12 Hours in Australia this weekend. This year’s race marks the first in a three-year agreement for Pirelli to supply all competitors. Last year’s open competition was by McLaren – shod by Pirelli – and the tyre maker also claimed the top four places on the grid and recorded a new GT3 lap record.

Last month the KAMAZ-Master rally team not only secured a one-two win in the truck category at the Dakar Rally 2017, it was also victorious in the truck section of the Africa Eco Race. Tyre maker Continental states that these two rallies “marked the beginning of a product cooperation” between it and the Russian KAMAZ-Master team. As part of this cooperation, Continental tyres were fitted on the KAMAZ-Master race trucks and all support trucks.

Despite leading the event for several stages and successfully battling terrible conditions, Team De Rooy had to settle for third and fourth places in the truck category of the 2017 Dakar. Driving Iveco Powerstar 4X4s equipped with standard Goodyear ORD tyres, Dutchman Gerard De Rooy in truck #500 and Argentinian Federico Villagra in truck #502 covered 5,300 miles of the challenging terrain, finishing close behind the two Russian Kamaz trucks. The remaining two Team De Rooy trucks finished 16th and 17th out of the 50 trucks that entered.

US-based motor racing sanctioning body Indycar has agreed to a multi-year extension of its contract with Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation for the Verizon IndyCar Series, thus confirming the continuation of Firestone as the official tyre to the series. Upon announcing the extension of its arrangement, Bridgestone notes that the brand has been involved in open-wheel racing since Firestone tyres were fitted to the winning car in the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

Pirelli has announced an extension to its Bute Motorsport relationship, becoming the exclusive tyre supplier to the new LMP3 Cup Championship after signing a three-year deal. The new series was officially renamed at the beginning of the year following an exhibition race at Snetterton last October under the Prototype Cup banner. The championship features the Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP3), developed under the technical stewardship of the ACO and aimed at teams and drivers looking to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
