Dunlop to supply MotoGP support series, ADAC Northern Europe Cup
Dunlop will supply tyres to the 2018 ADAC Northern Europe Cup, one of Europes premium lightweight motorcycle racing championships. For its third season the series will comprise seven races, with all competitors running on the brand’s rubber. This brings its tyre supply into line with the Dorna Sports SL European Talent Cup, launched in 2017, in which the two world championship classes, Moto3 and Moto2, race exclusively on tyres from Dunlop.
MotoGP: Michelin to continue ‘evolution’ approach in 2018
Having drawn upon experience in World Endurance and national championships when developing tyres for its return to MotoGP after an absence of seven years, in 2016 Michelin experienced an inaugural season in which it claimed to have engineered more developments than during its seven years working in other motorcycle racing disciplines. When the fun began again in Qatar in March, Michelin already had a season as tyre supplier under its belt, and accordingly the focus had shifted to building upon this flurry of engineering work.
Building on its most successful season to date, Dmack will return to the FIA World Rally Championship for its eighth successive season in 2018 with a completely revised range of tyres for all championship competitors. Dmack says the products include a “a number of important enhanced features to optimise performance on all conditions.”
28 Dakar rallies, 10 on Cooper tyres – Xavi Foj ready for 2018 event
Cooper Tire 4x4 ambassador Xavi Foj is preparing to enter his 28th consecutive Dakar Rally – the tenth he has competed on Cooper tyres. For the 2018 rally, Foj’s Toyota Land Cruiser 150 will be shod with the all-new Cooper Discoverer S/TMAXX POR – a tyre he assisted in developing for extreme off-road adventures.
Bumper year for Cooper, Avon on two wheels and four
Cooper Tire Europe views 2017 as a “bumper year” for it in the world of motorsport, with growth in the Cooper brand’s global involvement in rallycross, particularly from a feeder series perspective, and Avon Tyres’ recent support of six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy with a 60-Second Donut Challenge in a Caterham Seven.
As of 2019, fans of motorcycle racing will be able to follow an all-electric series, with protagonists in the upcoming FIM Moto-e World Cup dispensing with internal combustion entirely. Dorna Sports has announced that Michelin will act as official tyre supplier to the series.

This year has been a strong one for Falken Tyre on the motorsport front. It has racked up a plethora of titles from its motorsport activities and also secured a first victory in the VLN Endurance Championship as well as a top-ten finish at the notoriously challenging Nürburgring 24-hour race.
The Autosport Awards, sponsored by Pirelli, took place in London on Sunday to celebrate achievements across motorsport in 2017. In addition to its event sponsorship, the tyre maker sponsored a number of the awards. Four-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton was named International Racing Driver of the Year and British Competition Driver of the Year, while his Mercedes team won the Racing Car of the Year award for the fourth year in a row.

The conclusion of this year’s DTM season left fingernails bitten down to the quick. With no less than six potential candidates in the running to claim the touring car series, the question as to who’d finish on top of the drivers’ championship table stayed open right until the chequered flag waved the end of play at the Hockenheimring circuit. F1 technology transfer insufficient, says Michelin
The level of race to road technology transfer in Formula 1 is insufficient to pique Michelin’s interest in returning to the series as tyre supplier. This is the comment from Pascal Couasnon despite the tyre maker’s renewed interest several years ago.
Following a year off in 2017, Pirelli will return to the World Rally Championship from next year. The tyre maker has already homologated new products for the latest generation of WRC car as well as the feeder WRC2 category. In addition, from next year Pirelli also commences exclusive tyre supply for the Junior World Rally Championship, a series dedicated to drivers born later than 1 January 1989 and contested using identical R2-class Ford Fiestas. The winner will become the owner of a brand-new Fiesta R5 together with a tyre, fuel and free rally entries package towards the 2019 WRC2 season.
