Dunlop riders on MXGP, WMX podiums in Belgium
Dunlop rider Romain Febvre scored his first Grand Prix win of the FIM Motocross World Championship season at Lommel, Belgium, on Sunday. The Frenchman shared the podium with fellow Dunlop rider Pauls Jonass, who placed third. Both riders tackled one of the championship’s toughest circuits on Dunlop’s Geomax tyres. Dunlop also continued its success in the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship; Shana van der Vlist won the second round of the season, beating six-time champion Kiara Fontanesi to lead a Dunlop 1-2 result. The brand is by far the most successful tyre brand in WMX competition, having taken Fontanesi or Duncan to the championship win in eight of the nine last seasons.

Giandomenico Basso beat Italian rally champion Andrea Crugnola and Hungary’s Norbert Herczig to make an all-Pirelli podium at the Rally di Roma Capitale. The round of both the Italian and European championships is contested over 13 asphalt stages, with competitors using the consistent Pirelli RA5 tyres, which contended with high ground temperatures of up to 60 degrees centigrade.

The World Motor Sport Council convened during the 2021 FIA Conference on 8 July, and amongst the decisions reached was approval for the introduction of the new rear tyre specification that Pirelli had tested during free practice at the Austrian Grand Prix on 2 July. Pirelli will thus bring the new tyres to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this coming weekend.

Giti Tire has praised the #gitiracing all-female team after securing their first class win at the Nürburgring 24-Hour. Racing in the Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, the team beat a competitive Lexus RCF after driver Carrie Schreiner secured pole with a 9:19.646-minute lap of the Nordschleife. Following a lengthy delay due to fog, Célia Martin set a fastest lap of 9:11.605 as the team completed 52 laps, finishing in 45th place overall. 121 cars started the race, with 99 finishing in extremely challenging conditions.
