Cars running on Yokohama Advan tyres have finished first in two open tyre supply divisions of the 99th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which took place in Colorado, USA, on 27 June. The division champions were Raphael Astier, driving a 2015 Porsche BBI Turbo Cup in the Pikes Peak Open Division, and Randy Pobst, driving his 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid in the Exhibition Division.

Giti Tire will travel to Thruxton this weekend as the 2021 British Truck Racing Championship, of which the manufacturer is the sponsor, prepares for its second round. Last time out at Brands Hatch (5-6 June), Giti’s drivers secured the team’s first victory and four further podium finishes over five races. Martin Gibson, Giti Tire’s manager - EU Testing Centre and Motorsport UK, and Stuart Oliver of Team Oliver Racing, are competing in Giti Tire Motorsport designed trucks. Gibson won the fourth race at Brands, while Oliver finished in second place, repeating his achievement in race one.

Giti Tire has praised the #gitiracing all-female team after securing their first class win at the Nürburgring 24-Hour. Racing in the Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4, the team beat a competitive Lexus RCF after driver Carrie Schreiner secured pole with a 9:19.646-minute lap of the Nordschleife. Following a lengthy delay due to fog, Célia Martin set a fastest lap of 9:11.605 as the team completed 52 laps, finishing in 45th place overall. 121 cars started the race, with 99 finishing in extremely challenging conditions.

Swapping its OE tyres for Enso-branded rubber meant a Mission Motorsport-backed Renault Zoe was able to drive 475.4 miles (764.9 km) on a single charge recently. According to the team, the Enso tyre fitment lead to almost 12 per cent more mileage than a separate Zoe with OE tyres fitted as standard. The successful hypermiling record attempt took place at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire, UK on 10 June 2021.

“Boring” F1 tyres should be replaced with Avon or Goodyear – David Coulthard
13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard has slammed the current generation of Formula One tyres, which are supplied by Pirelli. Speaking in an interview with RaceFans.net, Coulthard said Pirelli era tyres resulted in boring races: “This whole Pirelli era is just confusing to me and boring to me to have to talk about, and super-boring for me to have to listen to the drivers going ‘I was trying to avoid pushing too hard on the tyres’.”
