Motul partners Shelsley Walsh, gears up for BRM celebration
Motul is delighted to announce a new partnership agreement with the world’s oldest permanent motorsport venue, Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, which sees Motul confirmed as the Official Lubricant of the Worcestershire track. The collaboration will be showcased to full advantage at the Midland Automobile Club’s Classic Nostalgia Meeting, over the weekend of July 16/17, where one of the main features is the celebration marking the 60th Anniversary of BRM’s F1 World Championship win, for which Motul is proud to be a presenting partner.

The charity, Speed Of Sight, is hosting an off-road track day for disabled people to enable them to drive at Cardenden Motocross Track in Lochgelly – its first event in Scotland in five years. The event is taking place Monday 15 August 2022 from 10am to 4pm. The track is less than an hour away from Edinburgh and just over an hour from Glasgow. People with all disabilities will have the chance to drive themselves and an instructor around the off-road track. Readers can book places here.

The Giti Tire Motorsport by WS Racing team won the VT2 class and achieved third place in the SP8T class with its all-female racing team at the 50th ADAC TotalEnergies 24hr Nürburgring endurance race. Both vehicles delivered their results on GitiCompete GTR1 tyres. The new BMW M4 GT4 of ‘Girls Only - Ready to Rock the Green Hell’ achieved a magnificent third place in the powerful SP8T after a near seamless weekend of high-octane action which saw the race go the full distance.

Three different cars using Pirelli’s Scorpion gravel tyres took the podium places on Rally Poland, the latest round of the European Rally Championship. The Skoda Fabia of Mikolaj Marczyk led the Hyundai i20 R5 of Tom Kristensson and the Ford Fiesta Rally2 of Ken Torn. Each driver made the most of the reliability of the Pirelli Scorpion. Marczyk took the lead after Hyundai driver Nils Solans – also running Pirelli tyres – encountered problems on SS6, while Kristensson and Torn finished 13 seconds ahead of the fourth-placed crew. Pirelli said the highly variable conditions of the roads in Poland put the Scorpion tyres to a challenging test.

The race car, based on the cult British car and run by the Bulldog Racing team, will be supported by Hankook with the high-end Ventus Race tyre, which has proven itself in numerous endurance races.

He alternated between the P Zero Red soft tyre, with which he started the race, and the P Zero Yellow medium, on which he finished it, handling a high-energy circuit and high temperatures with relatively high degradation. His team mate Sergio Perez and Mercedes driver George Russell, who also finished on the podium, both used a different three-stop strategy: soft-medium-medium-soft.

Exclusive Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli will supply the teams with its softest compound P Zero tyres for the first time since the Australian grand prix when the series visits the streets of Monaco. The C5 compound, alongside the C4 and C3, will be available one weekend after the hardest tyres in its range were selected for the Spanish Grand Prix. The compounds will be designated as P Zero White hard (C3), P Zero Yellow medium (C4), and P Zero Red soft (C5).
