Toyo Tires to supply Caterham Roadsport, Seven 270R and Seven 310R Championships
The three main Caterham championships in the UK will all compete on Toyo tyres in 2024. The 7 Race Series said the move would make it easier for drivers to enter events in multiple championships. Drivers from the Caterham Graduates Racing Club were welcomed to the events in 2023 following the Club’s move to Toyo Tires at the start of the season. Now, Caterham Roadsport, Seven 270R and Seven 310R Championships will all roll on the Toyo R888R, helping to extend more racing opportunities to the Caterham racing community.

Kwik Fit presented a stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for the third consecutive year. The tyre retail network hosted cars and competitors from the British Touring Car Championship, of which it is the title sponsor. While the weather was less than ideal, leading to a closure of the festival on Saturday 15 July, the Kwik Fit Stand hosted hundreds of fans throughout the event. They were able to test their skills on the racing simulators provided in partnership with Motorsport Games and watch hourly discussions with many of the 2023 BTCC grid.

Ahead of this weekend’s 2023 Hankook London E-Prix, British Formula E driver Jake Hughes set a new indoor land speed record in a modified Gen3 car. This ‘GenBeta’ prototype generates up to 400 KW and delivers it to the track via modified Hankook iON Race tyres. Hughes called upon this power to clock a new milestone of 135.9 mph on a 346-metre indoor straight.

The Ronal Group is partnering with Lamborghini to develop the wheel for its SC63 Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) race car. The car will participate in the WEC FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA (International Motor Sport Association) series from 2024. The Swiss wheel maker has vast experience in supplying motorsport-grade wheels, such as the 89 FIA World Champion titles won on its products in Formula 1. It also supplies the World Rally Championship, World Rallycross Championship, Super Touring and GT Racing.

In addition to renewing its successful supply deal with Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, Yokohama will supply the tyre to Toyota Gazoo Racing Indonesia on the 13-19 August rally.

Bridgestone’s technical partnership with the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC) has made its public bow in the UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The tyre manufacturer said the event represented an opportunity to “bring a vision of autonomous driving to life for thousands of onlookers.” Three IAC university teams attending the 2023 event were preparing the ground for next year’s show, scanning and digitally mapping the Goodwood Hillclimb to support IAC’s 2024 autonomous hillclimb challenge. Bridgestone commenced its partnership with the world’s first autonomous high-speed racing competition in 2020, supplying tyres and technical expertise. It says the partnership demonstrates how it is helping to drive autonomous motoring to the next level.

Exclusive Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli will offer softer compounds at the Hungaroring than in 2022’s Hungarian grand prix when the series visits the country on 21-23 July: the C3 will be P Zero White hard, C4 will be P Zero Yellow medium and C5 will be P Zero Red soft. The Alternative Tyre Allocation (ATA) will also make its debut in Hungary. The ATA is a new allocation for qualifying that was originally scheduled to be used at the cancelled Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and will also be tested at the Italian Grand Prix in September.

Romain Febvre claimed his second consecutive victory in MXGP, winning the inaugural FIM Motocross World Championship round in Lombok, Indonesia. It was the second time in two weeks that the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team rider visited the top of the podium. Febvre used Geomax MX34 front and MX14 rear tyres to manoeuvre through the mix of sand and dirt terrain in the high heat and humidity.

Pirelli has signed up to supply tyres exclusively to the Moto2 and Moto3 classes in 2024-26, replacing long-term supplier Dunlop. Pirelli calls the series “the strongest feeder classes in global motorsport.” The new three-year agreement is being finalised, with Pirelli set to become an integral part of the lightweight and intermediate classes of Grand Prix racing, adding to its portfolio of apex motorsport series supply deals. It will also supply various feeder series, known collectively as The Road to MotoGP. In global two-wheel racing, Pirelli is long-term exclusive tyre supplier to all classes of the Motul FIM Superbike World Championship. Pirelli will supply its Diablo Superbike slick tyres to both classes, following its strategy of closely aligning its racing and consumer products.
