Fire breaks out at Xintu Tyre’s warehouse
On 6 October, fire broke out at Xintu Tyre in Guangrao County, Dongying City, Shandong Province. Tyrepress China learned that the location of the fire was in the warehouse in the company’s finished product testing area, and the fire area of the warehouse was about 600 square metres. A person familiar with the matter revealed that the tyre company stored many tyres in the warehouse where the fire broke out.

Tyre Pro Egypt has begun to offer Davanti brand tyres to hundreds of dealers around the country and will gradually distribute stock to external dealers around Egypt. Established in 2010 by Hisham Layali, managing director of Tyre Pro Egypt, the business operates 11 state-of-the-art outlets in major petrol stations in strategic locations around Cairo. The company offers a range of passenger car, 4x4 and commercial tyres in its portfolio, to which it has now added the Davanti brand.

Falken tyre brand manufacturer Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) has a new means of verifying supply chain transparency for the natural rubber it utilises. Its procurement company Sumitomo Rubber Singapore Pte. Ltd. been using the Rubberway solution since July 2023, and SRI emphasises that “being part of this industry initiative will accelerate sustainable procurement of natural rubber.”

German end-of-life tyre (ELT) recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations AG plans to build a Pyrum pyrolysis plant in the Czech Republic together with a local energy company. This facility, located near the border with Germany, will have the capacity to process 20,000 tonnes of ELTs a year and is scheduled to start operations in 2025.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company estimates that fire damage to its manufacturing facility in Dębica, Poland will reduce sales by up to US$40 million and lower operating income by as much as $30 million. After resuming production two days after the blaze of 20 August 2023, production has slowly risen from around 55% of capacity to approximately 70% by the end of September. Goodyear does not expect a full ramp-up of production until Q4 2024 due to the lead time to replace damaged equipment.
