Tarsus cancels Tyrexpo Americas 2023 due to Mexican anti-dumping laws
Tarsus Group has cancelled its Tyrexpo Americas 2023 Show, which was scheduled to be held in Mexico City from 5-7 December as a result of recently-introduced anti-dumping legislation brought in by the Mexican Government.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (SRI) is collaborating on a project to eliminate batteries in TPMS and similar devices by replacing these with electricity generated through tyre rotation. Reporting on the progress of its work with Professor Hiroshi Tani of Kansai University in Japan, the Falken brand manufacturer says the partners have successfully generated stable electricity over a wide range of speeds by employing two types of generating devices.

An investment of three million euros will enable the Michelin tyre plant in Gravanches, France to reduce its water extraction by 60 per cent. The company will erect an adiabatic tower that keeps water in a closed circuit, saving around 10,000 cubic metres of water a year – the equivalent of four Olympic-sized pools.

These will include tyre mounted sensors, as well as the concept aerodynamic Advan A50 fin tyre, and the Japanese premiere of the Advan Sport EV, Yokohama’s newly launched dedicated high performance tyre for electric vehicles.

However, Borgo, who was both president and CEO of Yokohama Europe GmbH until the announcement, will “remain within the Yokohama family as consultant and acting president as of 1 January 2024”. Yokohama also announced the departure of Aleksandar Gramatikov, executive vice-president sales, marketing and supply chain of Yokohama Europe GmbH.

Garcin, who is president and chief executive officer of Michelin North America, began his two-year chairmanship on 11 October, succeeding Bridgestone’s Paolo Ferrari, who had served as USTMA’s Board chair since 2021.

Yokohama Tire has renewed its partnership with the United States Auto Club (USAC) as the official tyre partner and presenting sponsor of the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America and USA for the 2024 season. The renewal means next year’s challenge will be the fourth consecutive season with competitors using Yokohama rubber. Yokohama will supply its Advan A005 racing slicks and Advan A006 rain tyres. The North America series visits seven tracks for its 14 rounds, while the USA West schedule features 12 rounds at six different tracks.
