Following the news that Michelin has bought Australian e-commerce business Tyroola, Tyres & Accessories observed that the company also operates certain websites in Europe via a Dutch legal entity – Tyroola B.V.

Goodyear has placed Frank Titz in charge of its passenger car tyre replacement sales in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Titz took over from Dr André Weisz, who is to take on global responsibilities at the manufacturer, in the new year, according to Tyrepresss German sister site. Weisz will continue to act as managing director of the Goodyear companies in the DACH market, such as Goodyear Germany GmbH (Hanau).

Toyo Tires is working with its distribution partner in Hungary, AKH to support László Bunkoczi who is participating in the 15th edition of the Africa Eco Race. Bunkoczi lined up in the Rally Raid category in Monaco on 30 December. After crossing to Morocco the following day, the Africa Eco race runs over 6000km through Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal before reaching its conclusion in the historic city of Dakar on 14 January.

Bruno Göggel, the founder and proprietor of Germany’s largest tyre wholesale business, has passed away. In a statement, Reifen Göggel confirmed that “Bruno Göggel died at the weekend at the age of 62 as a result of cancer. Due to his serious illness, the entrepreneur had already increasingly withdrawn from the day-to-day business last year.”

On 2 January, the US Department of Commerce announced that it would launch the first anti-dumping and countervailing sunset review investigation into truck and bus tyres (TBR) imported from China. Stakeholders should register a response to the US Department of Commerce before January 12 (within ten days from the date of the announcement). According to the China Rubber Industry Association, the North American trade union organisation USW (United Steelworkers) has submitted a registration to respond.
