Risorce, a Belgian company active in the transportation and trading of end-of-life tyres, has closed a 12.5 million euro round of financing to fund a new end-of-life tyre recycling plant in Liège Province. This facility will utilise the pyrolysis process and have the capacity to process 2.4 million tyres a year, around half the waste car tyres collected in Belgium.

Hankook’s newest Ventus Race tyre, the C54 H, a slightly lighter model than its predecessor, made its debut at the Hankook 24H Barcelona. The European finale of the 24H Series powered by Hankook proved a fitting challenge for the new tyre, subjecting it to high levels of stress on the coarse asphalt and unique kerbs of the Formula 1 hosting circuit in Catalonia. Hankook says the new Ventus Race passed these tests with flying colours, helping the overall winner to set a new record distance of 725 laps.

Giti-sponsored Truck Team Holten’s modified Mercedes 1622 800HP finished in fourth place in the Rallye Breslau while completing its fourth consecutive year on a set of Giti tyres. The Netherlands-based team entered two vehicles in the Cross Country Trucks category, with the Mercedes team recording five top three finishes in a field of 10 while the Scania 4x4 630 started well, completing the prologue and the first two legs before having to withdraw with significant engine damage. Both vehicles fit the Giti GAO897 mixed service tyre in size 14.00R20. The tyre is designed to work across a wide range of air pressures to optimise performance in different conditions and in temperatures ranging from 55˚C to a minimum of -40˚C.

Recently, Jiangsu General announced that it will invest 1.884 billion yuan (approximately £210 million; €240 million) to launch the second phase of the Chinese tyremaker’s Thailand factory. The expansion will add 500,000 all-steel radial tyres and 6 million semi-steel radial tyres to the Thailand production base. It is worth noting that the tyre manufacturer only disclosed that the project’s construction period is 24 months but did not announce the planned start and end time.

Vietnam’s Binh Phuoc Province shares that the chair of its Provincial People’s Committee issued an investment registration certificate to Chinese tyre maker Shandong Haohua Tire on 11 September 2023. As Tyrepress.com reported in July, Haohua intends to invest US$500 million to build a factory in Vietnam capable of producing 12 million semi-steel radial tyres for cars and other light vehicles and 2.4 million all-steel truck radials a year.

Fruehauf Inc. (Fruehauf) is recalling certain 2025 Composite trailers equipped with the Tire Pilot Plus tyre pressure regulation systems (TPRS) in the USA. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documentation 786 trailers are affected and all eight tyres on affected trailers “may experience a loss of tyre pressure while driving faster than 45 mph.”
