A ‘Good Day’ with Ice Cube and Goodyear
In his 1993 song ‘It Was a Good Day’, rapper Ice Cube described the highlights of a particularly enjoyable day he spent in South Central Los Angeles, including seeing his name in lights on the Goodyear Blimp. It’s taken more than 20 years, but Ice Cube can finally cross this experience off his to-do list; on 20 January – 22 years to the day since Ice Cube’s ‘good day’ is said to have taken place – Goodyear Tire & Rubber teamed up with the hip-hop artist and actor in his “Good Day” campaign to raise money for a Los Angeles-based children’s charity.

A securities class action lawsuit has been filed against Cooper Tire & Rubber and certain of the company’s senior executives by a number of investors. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. The complaint alleges that Cooper violated the federal securities laws by issuing a series of materially misleading statements and omissions in connection with the proposed acquisition of the company by Apollo announced on 12 June, 2013. In addition, the complaint alleges that Cooper misrepresented Coopers financial condition, financial prospects, and the effectiveness of the Companys internal controls.

The scheme is backed by the Australian Tyre Industry Council and has been established with funding from tyre importers Continental, Goodyear Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli, Toyo and Yokohama. It aims to tackle the environmental challenges arising from used tyres.

The lawsuit brought against Goodyear Tire & Rubber by the Works Council at the company’s Amiens Nord factory in France and the factory’s union representative, Michael Wamen, has been dismissed by the United States District Court in Ohio. Referring to a host of precedent cases, Judge Sara Lioi determined that Goodyear neither breached agreements made with the Amiens plant workers nor did it fraudulently represent reductions in plant output as temporary measures.

Detroit show launch for Michelin tyre that grips as it wears
The latest Michelin tyre for the North American market has been designed to maintain high traction over its entire working life, a level of performance it achieves through choice of compound, groove geometry and the inclusion of added grooves that appear when a certain level of wear is reached. This whole-life gripper, the all-season Michelin Premier A/S, debuted at the North American International Auto Show on 14 January ahead of its April 2014 market launch.
