Marangoni showing Marix and Ringtread systems in Bologna
Marangoni Group has previewed its plans for this year’s Autopromotec. In its exhibition area - hall 22, stand A46 - the group will be presenting both its Ringtread system of retreading and its Marix direct retreads of truck and earthmover tyres. In addition, the Marangoni group’s fleet advantage division will also be exhibiting for the first time, presenting a series of fleet tyre management solutions.

Retreading has begun at the facility set up by Marangoni and Russia’s Tatneft Group in Nizhnekamsk, Tartarstan. Marangoni informed Tyres & Accessories that the first all-steel truck tyres were retreaded by KaMaRetread LLC – a joint venture between Marangoni and Tatneft subsidiary Trading House Kama LLC – in March. Marangoni provided technical assistance prior to the start of production.

Marangoni S.p.A. has acquired a 25 per cent share in South Africa’s Leader Rubber Co. S.A., the Italian company reports. It describes the signing of an agreement to this effect as the “culmination of a partnership that has been ongoing for several years,” and says the objective of taking a 25 per cent shareholding is to strengthen both companies’ presence in the South African market and throughout Africa.

Following news in March that it had entered into a relationship with German wholesaler Reifen Helm, Magna Tyres now reports that as of May 2015 it operates a strategic alliance with wholesaler Reifen Lorenz. This regional wholesaler, like Reifen Helm, is considered an “ideal partner” for the further expansion of Magna Tyres’ OTR activities in Germany. Reifen Lorenz will distribute both the Magna brand and the new MTP range of OTR tyres.

According to Germany’s Osthessen News, Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH intends to rescind the contract it holds with 7,500 German employees. The contract, which has been in force for 17 years and renegotiated four times during this period, guaranteed the retention of the company’s seven sites in Germany and protection from business-related redundancies. Ines Sauer, Works Council chair at Goodyear Dunlop’s Fulda facility, told Osthessen News that she and the German operation’s Central Works Council were informed of Goodyear Dunlop’s plans to end the contract late last month.

In particular sens.it-Statistics will get debut at Autopromotec. According to the company, this program module provides the operator (e.g. a tyre workshop) a quick overview of all sensors programmed at their service point to date. The newly developed print-out function also enables direct printing of the tyre pressure sensor diagnostic service record; if desired, this document can be handed over to the customer with the service bill, or entered into the customer file at the service company.

A report published by The Financial Express yesterday claims Apollo Tyres will implement the previously announced production capacity expansion at its factory in Chennai over the coming year. According to Satish Sharma, president of the tyre maker’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa business, the planned boost in the plant’s truck and bus radial capacity from 6,000 to 9,000 tyres per day will cost Apollo Rs 15 billion (£155.6 million). Passenger car tyre capacity in Chennai will remain at current levels for the time being.

Sumitomo Rubber Australia was founded in December 2014 as a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation (SRI holds a 75 per cent equity share), and it began operating in March 2015.

The East European trailer market has stalled once again, according to a new analysis produced by Clear International. The report suggests that the instability in Ukraine plus the plummeting oil price has had a “devastating impact” on the outlook for trailer demand in Russia. Nearly 24,000 trailers have been wiped from the demand forecast for the 2015 - 2019 period, with most of that falling in 2015/2016. That is in addition to the reductions made to the forecasts in 2014 following the annexation of Crimea. The latest forecast reductions affect Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

India’s Elgi Rubber Co. Ltd has acquired US retreading equipment manufacturer American Equipment Manufacturing Inc., a firm better known in the market as Cincinnati Retreading/Reclamation Systems; CRS was established in 1975 as a division of American Equipment Manufacturing. The Aztec (New Mexico) headquartered firm is primarily known for its buffing machines, which are produced in the CRS factory in Fairfield (Ohio). According to media reports, Elgi Rubber intends to further expand the facility.
